I have been working at Brain Balance full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Cutting edge program which literally changes the lives of kids and families

    Cons

Business model is evolving - many centers are not profitable. Lots of turn over at franchisor and franchisee level.

I have been working at Brain Balance full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

This company uses what could be an extremely effective program based on fascinating science to help children and their families. This is the direction education should be moving

    Cons

The centers have a very low consistency between them, and there is absolutely no corporate support for the clinical portion of the center. There are corporate supports for operations, but they are inconsistent and haphazard. It is a very difficult program to sell, as it is a private pay program, and therefore there is constant panic about covering overhead and wondering if we truly helped each child who came to our center. Overworked, underpaid, unsupported, and feel like a slimy salesperson

Employee experiences vary greatly depending on the individual franchise Center nfor which you work.

I have been working at Brain Balance part-time for more than a year

    Pros

A well-run franchise Center with solid, proactive leadership is essential to making a lasting contribution in the students' lives. The BBC program is unparalleled in its ability to help children and their parents. It is an exceptional opportunity to work with dedicated parents and help foster a supportive environment for these families.

    Cons

Corporate is very focused on their own agenda and often leaves franchises 'hanging' in terms of support, direction and especially regarding coordinated marketing efforts--yet corporate is always right on time for the collection of fees from the franchisees. In a very real sense, the franchisees are 'on their own' as individual businesses, with the exception of the actual BBC student coaching plan protocol. Many franchises will hire only on a p/t basis so there are often no benefits (holiday pay, health insurance available, etc).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Ask the regional franchise centers what works for them with their students in each of the different areas and act on that information, rather than demand sweeping reform of logos and other materials which have nothing to do with the actual administration of the program theories directly with students and parents.

    I worked at Brain Balance

    Pros

Can truly help children. Creative approach to potentially fixing neurological issues with children. Process was very streamlined.

    Cons

The center I worked at was poorly run and rude, most of the time. I would hear of lies being told to potential customers and sometimes the rules were way too strict. "Corporate" was judgmental/not flexible, as well. Revolving door at the certain location, not sure about other ones, though, might be a better experience.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take more time out for training staff members and communicate efficiently, without emotions getting so much in the way.
