Pros
Opportunity to learn new things, drive your down work schedule and goals, underlying business fundamentals are solid
Cons
archaic IT systems, have to be very self motivated, very little support is given to the individual employee in terms of career growth, have to go after it yourself.
Pros
Good pay (union shop)
great dental medical vision
Cons
Long hours
dont be sick you ll be penalized
Favortism
Back breaking work work at height of over 30 ft regularly
non senority based hiring
Advice to Senior Management
Reconize the workers who help you to make your enormous profits
Pros
Immediate supervisors and staff were patient, good, hard working people that put in lots of time an energy trying to keep the finances in line.
Cons
Corporate officers are completely ignorant of how the accounting department works. They just hired a bunch of staff. These were people who left good paying jobs with benefits to come to Brand for the opportunity for growth and advancement. Turns out this was all a lie. They needed warm bodies on a temporary basis. And now, before thier health insurance kicks in, they close the office. No way to COBRA, no Health Insurance, no severance and 2 days notice!
Advice to Senior Management
Treat people with the respect they deserve.
Pros
Because Brand is growing it's client base and service offerings, there are many opportunities for advancement, if you possess the right attitude and abilities. Wages are competitive and usually you are rewarded for great job performance. If you are a positive influence on the team and help where ever needed, you can count on many years of satisfactory employment. On the other side of the coin, you wont find your self having to haul a load of dead weight, which is quite refreshing.
Cons
Our geographical area is huge (14+ states) Because of this, there is a lot of traveling necessary, this can be tough on the family life, but its a part of the construction industry no matter who you work for.
Advice to Senior Management
Stay the course, I appreciate the high ethical and safety standards the company demands, it makes for a safe and honest work environment. Always seek the highest quality personnel and support them in their responsibilities. Recognize and reward your loyal and productive employees, they are a scarce resource.
Pros
When I first came on board I thought that Brand was a good organization. Things on the surface appeared to be pleasant. I have met some very nice people.
Cons
Management does not care about people, only the bottom line. When a project is done, so are you. There is a cold attitude that management displays towards employees. There is also very poor communication.
On the surface safety is a concern, but you will find that some in charge on jobs may not feel that same way. Brand is very unorganized and dysfunctional. It is not a place that you look forward to coming to on a daily basis.
Advice to Senior Management
Value your employees, teat them like you care about them and you will get 100%
Communicate with employees and let them know what is going on.
Be fair, teat employees who do a good job like they are appreciated.
Pros
High volume of work so had the opportunity to become an expert in my field in a short period of time
Cons
Management is old school. There is no work/life balance with an expectation that people to work endless numbers of hours and resent it when employees take vacation. They claim they have excellent leadership, when its leadership are cast offs from G.E. The benefit program is an embarrassment and the 401(k) program is a joke. Rank and file employees work very hard (and are good people), but management treats them like a number
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to your employees. Stop the nepotism/favoritism.
Pros
Management style promotes growth .... safety minded and safety of all employees is paramount and priority one. Open to new ideas and stays on the cutting edge in its field. Fair, honest, ethical and upfront in all that they do. Management is committed to growth and committed to growing the business
Cons
Benefits package is average at best .... could use some serious tweeking to improve
Hours are long, but nothing outside of any other position I have served in
Advice to Senior Management
Stay the course and more good will come to BRAND. Continue to believe in your philosophies and your safety first mentality and BRAND will continue to grow
Pros
Great leadership philosophy - frequent company updates, extremely open door management style, encourages input from all levels and incorporates team ideas well.
Cons
I think management could have done a better job of allowing us to practice Work/Life balance. It was something they encouraged, but then we'd still be expected to eat all 3 meals at work if it meant the job got done sooner. Being in the construction industry right now is kind of tough.
Advice to Senior Management
The leadership philosophy is stellar, but as mentioned, if employees could practice W/L balance without so much pressure I think productivity would go up significantly.
Pros
Nothing good in this company. You just can make good money when they have turnarounds.
Cons
Laid off without previous notice.
Bad salary.
No communication.
Expensive and bad health insurance.
No dental or vision coverage, just a discount.
No retirement plan.
No incentives or bonuses.
No training.
No motivations.
No balance between job and family.
You are just a machine and they do not care if you are been laid off with a family to support.
No job security.
Advice to Senior Management
The employees are human beings and need job security and respect as professionals.
