I have been working at Brandy Melville part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Working at Brandy Melville at the San Diego location, I would say it is easily the most laid back location. All the employees are extremely nice, funny, and surprisingly smart- all in school, most in college working towards highly specialized degrees. Good breaks- a 5+ hour shift gets a 30min break, a 4 hour shift gets a 10min break. Good managers make the team work smoothly, all are very nice and always help the sales associates find clothes or answer questions. The inventory team gets new product out into the store incredibly fast. Everyone is incredibly tolerant, with good cultural, racial, and gender values, which is very important considering the massive influx of international customers. Visuals always keep the store new and fresh, rearranging tables and props to create an open atmosphere. Everyone is good-natured and very customer-friendly. Easily the best job I've ever had.

    Cons

Can get very busy, lots of go-backs, if you have a closing shift you are usually there for about an hour after the store closes. Summer shifts are crazy busy. Customers make the store very messy very fast. Clothing skews can be frustratingly similar-some shirts only differ by one serial number, so it's difficult to keep track of 7+ skews of a seemingly identical shirt. A more consistent system for go-backs would be good to put in place, as well as possibly adding instructional signs on the last-chance racks to avoid customers mistaking them for go-back racks. Otherwise, very few negative things to say about the company or the location.

    Advice to Management

Schedule more girls to work in-between shifts so there is constant overlap- usually more girls are needed during rushes around 11AM, 4PM, and 8PM. Train everyone on register, inventory, and visuals so they can work in different departments as needed.

I worked at Brandy Melville full-time

    Pros

Cool if you want to feel like you're in high school again. Cool for inventory boys that get to do whatever they want.

    Cons

I worked corporate and can say this is probably the most unethical company, one step above sweat shops. For one, this is not an equal opportunity employer. In fact, they're hardly an employer at all. The only paperwork you fill out upon hiring is a release form for them to use any photos you take at work. Paycheck system automatically clocks you out for lunch even if you didn't take one (very likely). The entire company is very shady. They're under 3 different company names on paper, you're not allowed to tell the public anything about the CEOs or brand history. Everything is made up. Even the info here on Glassdoor about them is incorrect. There are no job titles within corporate because the owners like to treat everyone like an equal slave (the few women that are higher up in the company are still like personal assistants of the owners before anything.) Does not follow any California laws. This company will be be facing many lawsuits and go out of business once it gets more attention from the state. Focuses on hiring thin blonde girls because that's what gets the most likes on Instagram (their sole source of marketing). Will fire if you gain weight, cut hair, etc. Will hire 1 or 2 token black or spanish girls per store. NO equal pay. Raises based purely on favoritism and looks. Two girls could have the same exact job and the prettier one could get payed $4 more. Owners hardly speak english so they purely rely on the judgement of their 18 year old store managers. They're also kinda creepy and flirty. Tricks their teenage audience into thinking their cheap clothes are "delicate Italian fabric". Does a good job at brainwashing teenage girls to be exclusive and cult-y.

    Advice to Management

To management, get some integrity. To owners, buona fortuna

I have been working at Brandy Melville full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great music, easy money, cheap clothes, employee discount, offered friends/family discount as well No much to rave about

    Cons

Hire is based off looks.... You ask costumers if you can take a picture for product research then ask for Instagram account to send to owners and see if these girls are worthy enough to hire. Pay is ONLY based off looks, girls will be paid anywhere between 9.50-14 if they are pretty enough. Upper management is nonsense, the stores a ran by young girls who have no experience. Employees are required to sign photo release forms (That should already say a lot about this company) employees are also required to spend daily photos of all employees to owners. Be ready to deal with a lot of angry mothers that yell at you for "one size fits all" or not being able to get a full refund.

    Advice to Management

    Store hiring based off look

    Pros

Good hours if you work your way up into the company

    Cons

High employee turnover, worked for the company for multiple years and was not allowed to return for a seasonal position, no work/life balance

    Advice to Management

Care about the employees, should not be all about manager's favorites

I worked at Brandy Melville part-time

    Pros

The clothing is amazing and it's not very difficult to sell to customers. A lot of them are teenage girls who are in love with the brand.

    Cons

The other employees can be a bit snobby and there tends to be a clique culture. However, if you focus on your job and actually working as a salesperson it does solve that.

I worked at Brandy Melville (Less than a year)

    Pros

-Clothes were great when Jessy Longo was in charge of picking them out -Laidback environment

    Cons

-Practically nonexistent discount -Not customer oriented -Really awful about raises I was hired to be a lead, and was never paid as a lead even after my probation period. Moreover, they automatically deduct lunch breaks from your pay even if you don't take a lunch. I worked at the Westwood location, which is really small so I was often alone all day and unable to take a break.

    Advice to Management

I think this company should focus more on customer service rather than hiring aspiring models to pout about all day.
