I worked at Brenau University as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

They provide many opportunities to obtain training in order to be successful teaching in an online platform as well as how to grade and communicate with students.

    Cons

Positions are decided on a contract basis so there is no guarantee that you will have a class every semester.

  2. Not a long-term option

I have been working at Brenau University full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good health insurance benefits. Working with a university gives you many paid holidays. Relaxed office environment.

    Cons

Very, very stingy with pay. Only one opportunity for pay raises is the annual raise and that is often the first budget cut made. Numerous responsibilities are added onto your plate (as a cost-saving measure so they don't have to hire for openings) without any additional compensation. End up doing the work of multiple positions with the same pay you started out with.

    Advice to Management

Pay employees what they are worth, especially when those employees are going above and beyond their position's responsibilities.

    Awesome team to work with!

    Cons

Being a full time student made it difficult, but other than that, there are no cons!

    Positive Outlook

    Pros

Wonderful clientele, I do miss them. Most of the staff are agreeable.

    Cons

They do not have both managers sit down and discuss problems when problems arise. Unwilling to go to administration for raises and looked among staff to provide other staffs compensation. No beneifts.

    Advice to Management

The two tier systems are unfair to your hourly staff compared to you faculty.

    Neutral Outlook

I have been working at Brenau University part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The faculty work as a team. There will always be someone to provide feedback and assistance. The faculty all have great experience both in clinical and in teaching. They all are very willing to share their knowledge and to help with any of your needs.

    Cons

Cannot think of one single con.

    Advice to Management

    Continue with the support

    Pros

Good support from the Lead Instructor and department administration. Competitive pay. Great flexibility in how the online classes are administered.

    Cons

Some may not like the lack of guidance on HOW to teach the courses. It requires initiative and creativity.

    Pros

I enjoyed being in an educational environment. Turnaround time is great! Everyone is friendly to work with and I was able to gain experience.

    Cons

It was hard to manage classes with work yet this was unrelated to the work environment. As a teacher's assistant, I did not experience anything negative during my time here.

    Advice to Management

Always good to take care of employees!
