Former Employee – worked at Brick House Tavern + Tap full-time for more than a year
Pros – -No side work!!
-bus boys are literally trained to run to a waitress if they see her holding a dirty plate in her hands, and take it to the dish pit for her.
- Get awesome tuition reimbursement after a year with the company
-You are encouraged to sit down and talk to the guest
-lots of opportunities to work with others companies and promote for brick house
-The managers are usually very laid back it's a good first waiting job because, compared to other restaurants the managers here are very laid back when it comes to mess-ups.
-meet lots of interesting guest.
-Sometimes hired police on weekends as security.
Cons – 1) Since it is a recently up and coming restaurant they haven't had the experience necessary to put in place the regulations necessary when you have a "female only staffed" restaurant. I worked at my location for 2 1/2 years and during my time there several waitresses and I have had issues with drunk customers who couldn't keep their hands to their selves and/or were saying inappropriate rude comments to the us. In my situation the manager sent me home and transferred my table to another waitress for her to be harassed, which is NOT how a customer groping one of your employees. However there was incident that happened to another waitress and that night a different manager was working who handled the situation properly and kicked that drunk man out. In conclusion they need to put rules in place as to what you do when these situations occur.
2)Long Hours open until 2am on weekends
3)Managers play favorites BADD. it would be so bad that girls would bring the managers starbucks/rebulls/food so they would be ok with them being late, or so they could pick their own section, or so they could be cut first
4)Catty girls
5) Would schedule wayyy to many girls and no one makes any money
6) business can be SLOWWW
7) plenty of creepers
8)Huge turnover rate
Advice to Senior Management – Set better regulations on customers who sexually harass your waitresses

Current Employee – been working at Brick House Tavern + Tap full-time for more than a year
Pros – The people I work with; the skills that I have learned during my stay; the ability to network with some of the people at my workplace.
Cons – The managers simply do not achieve any of the goals that they stipulate. The goals are not unrealistic and very obtainable, but without the appropriate managers to make things happen, these goals/objectives are simply not met and thus creates a demoralizing work atmosphere.
Advice to Senior Management – Listen to your employees; be more professional and rigid with policy/specs -- avoid favoritism especially if it forces employees against one another.
Purchase the equipment necessary to facilitate the mechanics of the workplace efficiently. If something breaks down, allocate the funds to make things "right" run properly. If somebody is fired and/or quits, find the right people to make the workplace operate smoothly again. If somebody is fired and/or quits, do not "buck" the tasks/objectives of the former employee off onto current employees.
Avoid demoralizing your employees; stop favoring "dead batteries" and attempting to promote people that have no want to work in the workplace.
Stay off of your mobile devices (laptops, phones, PDA's -- etc.) especially when specific objects/tasks/requisites need to be accomplished.
Be more pragmatic and professional with the employer-employee relationships in the workplace.
Hire managers that actually possess the skills required to run the workplace.
Be direct while avoiding confrontation, as it is not professional.
Learn to order the right product and thus not blowing the company's budget/available funds. (Conversely: stop under-ordering and learn the actual variances of product week-in/week-out, if not day-in/day-out.)
Do not exhibit impropriety, as it gives rise to mutiny/the development of a "renegade staff" that becomes empowered with exploiting the foibles/flaws of MGMT.
Organize a better line of communication between employees to have them better trained and more cognizant of the directives that MGMT tries to put into effect/in place.
... the list goes on, it's kind of ridiculous.

Former Employee – worked at Brick House Tavern + Tap
Pros – the customers are always ready to spend money. the music and ambiance was great, you feel relaxed and communication between you and the guest is always freely.
Cons – the management was horrible, and they often took their frustration out on their employees. the outfits were a tiny zipper top and jean shorts or skirts, EVEN IN THE WINTER. and as hostesses, we're REQUIRED to open the door for every single guest as if they don't have hands.
Advice to Senior Management – I think they need to open their eyes and more on hiring more responsible workers than focusing on just pretty faces.

Former Employee – worked at Brick House Tavern + Tap
Pros – -Bar terminology quickly becomes a second language
-Constant networking opportunities with the city's elite (lunch and happy-hour crowd)
-Fairly wide age demographic, but no guest ever looks out of place (as long as they have a drink in their hand)
-Despite an all-female staff, the dynamic feels more like a close-knit, foxy sorority than The Bad Girls Club
-The training/'newbie' period isn't all that intimidating, as long as you're legitimately comfortable with jumping in a booth next to absolutely anyone and striking up a conversation
-Between the 20-30 females that regularly work a day's shift, there is a MASSIVE wealth of knowledge and tricks of the trade to be exchanged. Most of the managers understood this, and made an effort to set aside time during shift meetings to share each others' advice
-Upsell, upsell, upsell! From the get-go, servers are versed with tactful, yet graceful, techniques to upsell a guest's drink order (while still humoring those Pabst's Blue Ribbon aficionados)
Cons – -This particular location was considered a 'flagship' location, so many managers-in-training from various cities would rotate through for a few weeks. The dynamic was shifted so immensely every 3 weeks that many of the servers acted autonomously with each other and outright ignored/bullied the managers.
-This is a male-owned franchise. With 99% female employees. Expectations about guest 'satisfaction' are blunt, often degrading, and way too cheeky for your grandma. If you can own it, and maintain your dignity, then you will bank some legitimate cash. If you buckle like a wallflower, or sleaze it up too much, you will be miserable and running for the door.
Advice to Senior Management – Provide a decent locker room for your servers. Yes, I mean with locks and full-length mirrors. I often had to stash my purse in a dank back-room that was regularly hosed-down from floor to ceiling and smelled like fried calamari. If you expect your severs to look impeccable for an 8 hour shift, then alternate a 15 minute break to touch-up and fluff-up. I guarantee you won't be shooing the servers away from the bathroom mirror or confiscating lip glosses left and right.

Former Employee – worked at Brick House Tavern + Tap
Pros – Fun concept, genuine scratch kitchen, no kid's menu or high chairs, nice atmosphere, attractive servers. Good opportunity for someone who wants to get in with a brand in its infancy.
Cons – Standards and procedures change on a daily basis as corporate is still trying to wrap their arms around the brand and how it will evolve. Very frustrating.
Advice to Senior Management – Pick a direction and head that way. Don't continually change your minds and don't expect same-store sales to be up when there is no reason for them to be up.
