Advice to Senior Management
NA
Pros
Bridgestone has flexibility, work environment, comradery among employees, strong branding, great resources and world class execution with certain product lines.
Cons
Bridgestone is too slow to react to the ever changing market which allows the competition to gain ground and market share. Sometimes a company as big as Bridgestone loses sight of the goal being as large as they are.
Advice to Senior Management
Trust the voice of your account representatives with their ears to the ground. Their experience with the market in my opinion is more valuable than any pie chart or graph.
Pros
Good benefits, established processes that seem to make sense.
Cons
Inconsistencies in mid-management across channels.
Advice to Senior Management
Treal your employees as well as you treat your customers, keep in mind that the employees are the interface on a daily basis. Listen and show respect.
Pros
flexible to move around jobs
Cons
pay range is sometime low
Pros
Well known company
Respect and team work
Multicultural
Cons
Hierarchy, top decision made in Japan
Not consumer, marketing oriented
The engineering, manufacturing mindset continues
Promotions depend on seniority
HR managements
Advice to Senior Management
fresh thinking, less cautious approach, promote change
Pros
Exposure to many different technologies and areas of a business
Good work-life balance for most positions
Mature industry offers some stability
Cons
Some contractors in key positions
Single points of failure exist in several areas
Many legacy employees that should be removed
Advice to Senior Management
Do a better job identifying personnel who are out of their comfort zone and work level
Promote from within more quickly
Pay close attention to putting contractors in key roles
Pros
Good bonus program for employees
Cons
Doesnt pay market rate salary
Pros
benifits that is all in one word
Cons
bad pay no raises no time off 60 hour work weeks poor upper mangment all around a very bad place to work not an ounce of respect crappy equipment the list goes on and on and on
Advice to Senior Management
every one in upper managment spend a few weeks in a ice cold shop with broken equipment for a crappy wage work 8 or 10 sundays in a row get off your blackberry and out of lazy boy and do a real job for a while
Pros
Job security is only second to public service. Slow but linear growth. Strong business ethics. Industry leader. Fair treatment of employees. Good team work.
Cons
Not-motivating working style. Too much hierarchy. Difficulty in working with the Japanese. Too much attention to detail- not enough focus on the big picture. Impossible to express opinion against senior management (no freedom of speech). Below the average compensation scheme.
Advice to Senior Management
Encourage your employees to express their opinion. It is better than having an army of frustrated people gossiping during coffee breaks. Try to make the jobs more motivating, in particular for junior staff.
Pros
Location and the retirement plan was ok.
Cons
Typical Functional Management and knowledge has less rating over to several other personal factors.
Advice to Senior Management
Change the way business is done now a days.
