    Pros

Provides great academic training and career development programs. Tremendous interaction with other Harvard affiliated institutes and teaching hospitals.

    Cons

Salary is not good considering the high living expense at Boston. PIs are always demanding. Hard to balance work and personal life.

    Pros

MNA, competitative rates, many specialities to choose from. Many nurses have been working at the Brigham since they began their career. That speaks volumes !

    Cons

tough place to get an RN job sometimes...people just don't leave. Sometimes new RN's are overwhelmed...very sick patients. No parking on site unless you work nights....so you either have to take the T or park on an off site lot and get shuttled in. Depending upon what shift you work and traffic this can add extra time to your commute.

    Advice to Management

always trust that your staff is going to try to do their best!!!

    Pros

Good benefits, great research from top notch faculty members who are devoted to science.

    Cons

Not-so-trained managers who like to boss around

    Advice to Management

Have some management class prior to hiring "managers"

    Pros

My colleagues were very supportive and assisted with the orientation and learning process.

    Cons

There were some employment polices that were somewhat restrictive.

    Advice to Management

Fully vet newly defined positions before bringing on permanent staff.

  8. Best place I've ever worked. I'm not one of those saving lives, but admire and respect the work, mission and dedication.

    Pros

Although I'm not one of those saving lives, I admire and respect the work, mission and dedication of all of our physicians and healthcare providers. I'm very proud of the work done here and the overall mission. Excellent benefit package (health insurance, time off, perks such as discounted tickets to science museum, NE aquarium, other attractions). Great salary, professional work environment. I have the benefit of a remote work schedule for a couple days a week and a very great work-life balance is enjoyed.

    Cons

The commute is horrible into Boston.

    Advice to Management

Less electronic communication and more personal communication - especially as related to major changes and initiates. Treat us like humans - look us in the eye and speak to us directly. - I suppose it's easier to send out bulk emails and newsletters, but the personal touch is so much more effective.

    Pros

You can put BWH on your resume. Honestly that's about it.

    Cons

Every MD and Resident has their nose in the air and zero qualms about showing a lack of professionalism toward support staff.

Most jobs (there are very few where I can say this) have a team based culture, but most is a "Whose To Blame."

Management is more likely to sweep problems under a rug or avoid the problem all together because of those MDs and Residents they cannot confront.

For lack of better words, if you like working thankless jobs and basically like being bumped into residents down hall ways who never apologize because they think they're better than you, you should def. work here.

    Advice to Management

Why have management when they can't manage? They don't advocate for you, they promise all the time they will, but it gets easier after a while to understand that no one will actually help you. You're better off using this place as a platform, not a long term career.

    Pros

Great experience and building of you pharmacy knowledge, you get what you put into it. you can learn a lot from all the technology available. busy workflow keeps you going. if you are a hard worker you get recognized. good benefits, good pay with experience.

    Cons

very poor moral, lots of long timers that have become complacent in their position and have attitudes to people that have more work ethic. can be a rift between day and evening shift

    Advice to Management

try to fix moral. staff has become to clicky, to many small groups that just trash eachother
