Pros
With any job comes hard work! I feel that BH is a great company to work for and they have great employees.
Cons
Some of the employees can be rude at sometimes and not helpful. Us teachers do alot and alittle effort from everyone would be great!
Advice to Senior Management
Monitor the employees lack of work. Some are doing it all and some are not!
Pros
It's a job and close to home. My career is teaching children and I get to do my job here.
Cons
Very low pay. I am not offered any medical benefits as a substitute and have not been offered any full time employment. Some weeks I have very few hours and a very poor paycheck. It is hard to manage money and is very stressful.
Advice to Senior Management
Let people do their jobs, Offer constructive criticism. Treat teachers like the adults they are.
Pros
on- the-jobtraining opportunities
on-line courses
ability to get discounted childcare
emergency childcare
beautiful work surroundings
opportunities for growth
one of the best benefits package offered
Cons
Pay was meagre but if this is not important to you than okay. Also the benefits made up for this.
Advice to Senior Management
I encourage management to continue their hiring practices. All my managers were professional.
When staff had issues with Directors I liked that our voices were heard and policies put in place to correct misunderstanings
Pros

Advice to Senior Management

Pros
Its a job... and during the reccession be happy to have one.... Its great if you love kids, which I do, but you can only love it for that reason for so long....
Cons
you work too hard for very little money, when they interview you they make it sound wonderful... its not its a daycare, they have you write out lesson plans every week, FOR TODDLERS!!! ( 1.5 year olds) having things to do and posting them on a board is one thing, but writing it out on every sheet is rediculous!! you have to write down everytime the children pee!!! COME ON!! Also you have to CALL UP FRONT IF YOU HAVE TO GO to the bathroom!!! then wait for someone to come down which sometimes can take up to or over a half hour!!! The director doesn't care how anyone feels! If you open your lunch is at 9:30 A.M. and you dont have another break till 3:45 when you get out.... its INSANE!!
Advice to Senior Management
get off your rears and actually watch what people are doing in your centers!! You may be surprised. Your employees are your donkeys stop treating them like that and treat them like the people that ARE TAKING CARE OF THE CLIENT!! and respect our opinion and our thoughts and try to help, instead of shrugging your shoulders.
Pros
I have found my experience at Bright Horizons very rewarding. The team and management I work with on a daily basis are top notch. They care about the company and for each other. They really believe in work life balance----and practice what they preach. So refreshing.
Cons
Salary is low, I think if they increase salaries they would keep younger talent for the long term.
Advice to Senior Management
na
Pros
Benefits
education reimbursment
close partnership with parents/children
Cons
Creativity is stiffled
Paper work is put above care of children instead of the other way around
Management micromanages teachers
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to your teachers and stop micdromanaging and playing favorites. Other Teachers notice these things and they don't like working in enviroments like that. Not a healthy enviroment for teachers.
Pros
met some of the best people here-great professional mentors- have had very strong job security and compensation-diverse families and faculty make for great experience
Cons
It is NOT possible to get i tal ldone without sacrificing a great deal of yourself-so you must choose- do it all 100% and compromise elsewhere in your life-school ,family, self OR do "just enough" to get by and know that you can be a far better leader adn employee but sacrifice less of yourself.
Advice to Senior Management
Stop changing the roles, adding more and offering less support- the daily roles HAVE changed and expectations have increased- quality- High Quality should be attained but not without providing adequate support
Pros
Fantastic coworkers, beautiful center, setting is very child and family friendly. Teachers take pride in what they do. Coworkers are the bright spot in my day at work.
Cons
Director is horrible and does not care about morale, which is reaching new lows every day. Compensation, benefits & communication are dismal at best. Bright Horizons loves to refer to itself as a great place to work, but doesn't seem to care whether the staff who are working in the centers actually feel that it is a great place to work & feel like they are treated well as employees.
Advice to Senior Management
Management needs to work to develop and demonstrate basic respect for employees. Employees are asked to make many sacrifices for their jobs at Bright Horizons, and are not even given basic respect in return. To the staff working in the centers their center Director & Assistant Director are the face of the company. If they don't perform their jobs well, don't listen to staff, and make it clear that they don't care whether or not their employees feel satisfied in their jobs, then eventually the staff will reach their breaking points and everyone will start leaving. This is exactly what is happening in our center now, and if we had a competent Director the teachers who are leaving (or job hunting) would all stay. Staff surveys go ignored -- try listening to what we have to say & acting on it.
