I have been working at Brinker full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Brinker has ongoing training and development. They are always looking forward to better their operations.

    Cons

Changes for the operators happen all at one time and you are expected to excel in every area of change in a short period of time.

    Advice to Management

Get to know all levels of your management and team members. Don't just take the word of your buddies.

I worked at Brinker full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexible schedule, focuses on people first, strong values. Moderate room to move up at mid-level. Not much room at the top

    Cons

No development. Unrealistic goals and bonus structure. No development programs.

    Advice to Management

Consider more work life balance. True advantages to being a GM besides pay scale.

I worked at Brinker part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Chilis has a pretty consistent number of people coming through the restaurant which helps with the money that you will make. Most of the people are pretty chill and it is a semi relaxed atmosphere

    Cons

The customers can sometime be very difficult to work with. You will need to have a tough skin or develop one. Pay was okay, not great.

I have been working at Brinker part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

There is the ability to make good money with part time work without much required from you as an employee. The big gamble is getting a decent crew of managers at your location, they make the job either fun and easy or simply intolerable.

    Cons

The big gamble is getting a decent crew of managers at your location, they make the job either fun and easy or simply intolerable.

    Advice to Management

Just because a person is smart and can pass the training or is bilingual, does not mean that they have the right personality or even what it takes to be a good manager for this company especially as a general manager.

I have been working at Brinker full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great culture! Work hard, play hard is the motto. They have a casual work environment. There is a lot of diversity and development within the company to help you grow professionally (laterally or in your role).

    Cons

Not a lot of upward movement and hard to transition into different roles. There used to be a lot less pressure to achieve such intense results which sometimes negatively impacts the great work/life balance that the company promotes.

I worked at Brinker full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Brinker is really one big family. When a team member is in crisis, they pull together and help out with support and the Brinker Family Fund. That is what I miss most about working there, the camaraderie. The expectations are clear, and if you exceed them, you will be extremely successful. The bonuses are some of the best in the industry if you can exceed them (which my team always did).

    Cons

Chili's kept making a lot of knee jerk reaction changes to keep up with the competition. I am all for change, it is good sometimes, but as a manager in operations, I was in the front lines and had a lot of apologizing to do to the guests, the loyal guests. My other con to working there is the 50-55 hour work week is not true, especially if you are trying to hit or exceed your target bonus.

    Advice to Management

The upper management was really invested in my growth.

    Pros

HAD AN EXCELLENT EXE. CHEF. He was actually italian. Had Very High Standards for how we wanted his kitchen to run

    Cons

This store had a High GM turn over rate. The GM was lazy and was irritated when ever he had to go visit tables.. More concerned about making quotas than making guest happy

    Advice to Management

If you work harder than all your other managers you will move up quickly. That wont be hard because the managers there are lazy
