    Pros

    Compensation packages are competitive.
On site day-care with Bright Horizons is wonderful.
    Challenging work with great people.

    Cons

    Limited upward mobility.
Limited career change options (CT site).
Recognition and advancement varies wildly between departments.
Work-life balance gets a lot of talk but they are not walking the walk.

It's a job... and one I like, but the culture here needs revamping.

    Pros

Some people are really great to work with, good bonus, flex-time, work from home options, small office environment, work rotations

    Cons

Some people are not so great to work with, not-so-great benefits, management that is not amendable to change, low salaries compared with other companies, high workload

    Advice to Management

Improve benefits, raise salaries to be more in line with other companies, balance workload better, get rid of line managers that haven't done anything in years, but stay because of longevity

    Pros

Not micro-managed as long as you are on top of your work. Respected for my contributions.

    Cons

Frequent layoffs result in low morale.

    Advice to Management

Recognize people that work independently on model development as you would those screening for programs.

    Pros

Good place to learn, great benefits and hard working employees.

    Cons

Poor quality of middle-management. Corporate values set by upper management are swept under the carpet by middle management (Exec director and director level)

    Pros

Location is is rural but easy access to Hartford or New Haven. Fitness center, credit union, cafeteria. Commute is not stressful. Many cultural and interesting activities are close by. Boston and NYC are close and NY can be traveled to by train.

    Cons

Traveling to NJ for meetings is rough.

    Advice to Management

Bridge the gender gap. Promote women the same as men and pay the same too.

    Pros

Departmental Community Atmosphere, Telecommuting Allowed, Great Managers, Encouragement for Educational Enrichment, Great Benefits, Excellent Cafeterias and Health Centers, Very Professional Corporate Environment. Travelers stay at very good hotels. Team work is highly utilized and in a great way.

    Cons

Making employees drive back and forth to various NJ sites as instead of using excellent in house technology for meetings. Not enough telecommuting is promoted. Politics can be a little rough depending on department. Upper level management not in touch with needs of worker bees. Mid-level management is overworked and highly politicized internally.

    Advice to Management

Go talk with the lower level workers (non-managers and scientists) without management around - you might get surprised by what you find.
