Pros
Great salary, staff travel, annual leave
Cons
dealing with angry passengers in times of disruption
Pros
The management at BA was fabulous; I felt like I was a valued member of the team, there to both learn and teach new ideas.
Cons
One manager was less willing to make time for me, which proved frustrating at first. Other managers were more receptive, and overall I thoroughly enjoyed working at BA once I found my place there.
Advice to Senior Management
The best thing about the corporate atmosphere was the willingness of the management to listen to new ideas, and as we progress to a more dependent digital age, maintaining relevancy is key, so be sure to look to the future!
Pros
salary
hours of work
opportunity to progress
sociable co-workers
satisfactory medical plan
Cons
i would prefer more hours of work
Advice to Senior Management
keep up the good work
Pros
Travel concessions are ok compared to other airlines but not the best. A very extensive route network. Safety and customer service training is very good.
Cons
There is unfortunately now a culture of a race to the bottom. It's all cuts, cuts, cuts. According to the leadership team within BA, cabin crew are not entitled to a liveable wage. They want college and university leavers in and out the door in no more than 5 years to keep the wage bill low. Customer service will suffer as a result and BA will loose passengers. No longer a company to be proud to work for. Such a shame.
Advice to Senior Management
Stop concentrating on capatalist management styles, trying to maximise productivity from your front line employees for an unliveable wage. Sensible cuts will get a positive response from your employees.
Pros
Benefits and that is it
Cons
Pay, no promotion opportunities unless you know the right people
Advice to Senior Management
Better opportunities for staff internally
Pros
Some cool employees. Excellent travel benefits.
Cons
Too many poor quality folk from Director level upwards. They are weak at managing poor performers and they let real good people walk without making an effort to keep them.
Advice to Senior Management
Transfer most of the functions of HR and IT back to the UK. These departments have the least competent Directors and VPs.
Pros
Enjoyable atmosphere. Encouragement to socialize with the rest of the staff, invoking a feeling of comraderie which encourage long term commitment.
Cons
Tight deadlines and expectation to work overtime, which isn't unrealistic in a publishing environment but fair compensation would have been appreciated
Advice to Senior Management
More communications in regards to how the company is doing would lead to more commitment and loyalty from its employees
Pros
Working for british airways was alway my dream, it is full of fantastic people apart from the leadership team. e have some fantastic layovers and a service to be proud of. I really do enjoy going into work each day.
Cons
Poor management from the top. Departments being turned against each other. Leadership team trying to reduce us to low cost carrier. LT making our fantastic airline a laughing stock and talking us down.
Advice to Senior Management
Concentrate on the front line staff as we are the ones who continue to serve our customers above expectation on a daily basis. Stop putting profit ahead over everything else
Pros
The travel benefits, good life work balance, lot of talented and dedicated colleagues.
Cons
Little chance for professional development or career progression. At the moment all airlines are going through hard times meaning that projects are being put on hold and there is uncertainty about what the furture will hold. Having said that B A is in a better place than many other airlines and the CEO is doing things to ensure the airline has a viable futrure. The company will go through a lot of change in the next few years so hard to say how things will be. Watch this space.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep up the good work. Introduce a share reward program so all employees feel more interested in the companies furture.
