British American Shared Services-useful for young graduates with no work experience, offers stable workplace and payment

Junior Analyst (Former Employee) Bucharest (Romania)

ProsYou can still be promoted untill a certain level. Afterwards personal preferences of top management take priority.
Benefits (fruits, water, dinning area well equipped, annual parties, ticket meals etc).
    Fast IT service.

    ConsWork/Life Balance is very poor.
    Promotions based on personal sympathies.
A lot of gossip (smoking lounge is the main source).

Advice to Senior ManagementWork/Life Balance needs to be substantially improved ASAP!
Promotion based on subjective criteria (knowledge, experience) not personal preferences (relationships with upper management)!
    Pay less attention to gossip!
"Act like owners" is a management mistake not a company value to be followed by the employee!

Good company to work for, they are willing to invest a lot of money in you.

Business Analyst (Former Employee) London, England (UK)

ProsInternational opportunities; training; good people to work with; good benefits and pay.

ConsControversial industry; leadership has hierarchical structure; declining market hence pressure on cost and people; company politics is taken to the extreme.

Advice to Senior ManagementMake decision based on what is right for the company, rather than what is right for your own career.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Enjoyable but with very little opportunity for development

Executive Assistant (Current Employee) London, England (UK)

ProsIt's a fairly laid back environment with lovely facilities such as an onsite gym, costa and roof terrace. There are many perks and benefits open to people, subsidised lunch and free cake on Thursdays

ConsWorking in a very junior role has left people with a slightly diminished view of my skill set, meaning development would be difficult.

Advice to Senior ManagementA more transparent development process would be beneficial to staff retention.

Positive atmosphere, collaborative working, lots of opportunities for personal professional development

R & D Technologist (Former Employee) Southampton, England (UK)

ProsCommunication within the company is excellent. Lots of interdepartmental meetings which you can take yourself along to or pass on if you wish.
Praise and positive attitudes surround the office.
    Opportunities to learn are endless.
    Very flexible with working hours

ConsOften the extra opportunities are encouraged but the pressure to get your work done does not slacken.

Used to be a great company to work for

Various Mid to Senior Level Jobs (Former Employee) London, England (UK)

    ProsGreat attitude to people
    Diversity of cultures
    Openness
Those were the values and the company lived by them

Consthe time of the values is gone
Company is less people focused, is fatigued by constant restructuring of the HQ which never lead to the desired effect since they are never seen through to the end.

ProsThey work hard and as for trainee they are sincere.Their leadership quality is very very strong , at production it is highest rated.

ConsThe time of polices is good, but the environment is not very good if a man work 10 years continuously he could get ill. He could have bronchitis.

    A good learning environment

Finance Analyst (Current Employee) London, England (UK)

ProsBAT is presint in almost all countries of the world. It is possible to do a multinational career. Pay is relatively better, though it is getting more squeeze.

ConsDifficult to get promoted if not from graduate scheme. Promotions depend mostly on who you know and subjective one-two interactions with senior management - probably this is same in any other big organization.
