Nice outside environment and honest workforce who deserve more support

unreasonable and at times hysterical customers who need to get a life.
ludicrous targets with woefully inadequate resources.
constant criticism from press, customers, and above all colleagues/directors who are obssessed with reaching ridiculous targets

Advice to Senior Management

stop setting unachievable targets, reverse the trend in raising customer expectations without providing enough resource. 'more for less' doesn't work if you cut staff and resources and operate in the constraints of the public sector.
we need to be brave enough to close or hand over liabities such as derelict and high maintenance waterways with little income potential.
