    Pros

good quality work and open work culture

    Cons

this is one company where new college graduates are paid more than existing employees for the same position. i am not talking about average performers, but well rated performers. so be careful before joining. politics between teams sometimes is very frustrating. recognition is also team dependent. many times you see below average performance getting recognized depending on team. many senior managers behaves rudely, when ball is in their court. don't be surprised if you hear "we are paying you to work" from director's mouth directly!

I worked at Broadcom full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Gives you more responsibility and very good pay, fantastic travel perks, company paid outings / lunches in premium hotels, good office, private cubicles, free dinner. Restricted Stock Units (RSU) to employees filing patents. Provides stock purchase plan (options), RSUs and stock purchase plan. Brilliant engineers to learn from. Provides a dorm / TV room / pool table within office.

    Cons

Ruthless. Forget family life. You start working from 9 in the morning without a good nights sleep. If you can survive the office politics till evening you get some work done between 5PM and 9PM. And then starts the conference calls with staff in USA. They do not bother it is 1AM here in Bangalore when we finish the call. Sometimes there is another call early in the morning. Indian managers are least assertive when it comes to protecting the interests of their staff. You now know why there is a dorm. Appraisal process is arbitrary. There is no redressal process. HR does not simply have any say on manager. In other companies when people leave there are sent offs or a party. Here when people leave, no one knows - just whispers and they simply vanish. The team is mostly men and i had personally heard sexist jokes even from top brass visiting from USA during a party.

Software / hardware processes in global sourcing companies are better than in Broadcom. So, be with Wipro or Sasken if you are a graduate engineer learning good coding practices.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice
