Pros
Great technology, great engineers excellent benefits. The company benefits from the fact that it has been created from many startups because thats where the best engineers tend to be.
Cons
Big company vibe, since it has grown there is a definite increase in the Big Company management system. Just to be expected with a company this large in an environment this fluid
Pros
Work Environment is great.
Smartest people in industry.
Good opportunities to innovate and achieve.
Unlike other semiconductor companies, you get actual ownership for your work.
Absolute cutting edge work.
Cons
Inter department transfer is not easy, this may lead to saturation if you work long enough for same technology .
Pros
enjoy the great company and greate tech
Cons
localized in the departments and not easy to have vision on outside
Pros
Being a large company, the pros will vary depending on which group you are in and how you negotiate when coming in and who your boss is. It is a large stable company and weathered quite nicely the housing crash with lots of cash and laying off only a few percent when other companies were axing up to 15%. Engineering staff are excellent (most have PhDs). If you are an engineer, you should be able to colloborate and gain valuable experience. You will typically work on all the latest tools and processes.
Cons
It's a large company with all the normal downsides so you should expect it. The severity of them will depend to a certain degree with the group you are in and the function that you serve. Try to gain an understanding of the issues before hiring by networking if possible.
Hours can sometimes be long, but their infrastructure is expanding, and depending on the group, you may be able to enjoy your weekends much more frequently.
Pros
There are a lot of room for growth and development.
There are also a lot of different groups and job opportunities within Broadcom which allow people to try expand their expertise in different areas.
Cons
There are not a lot of Cons, however if it not a 9am-5pm type of job. It requires a lot of hours and dedication.
Advice to Senior Management
the best advice I can give is to increase opportunities for Technical growth by offering on site classes and sessions that would allow engineers to increase their expertise in different areas.
Pros
- Freedom to work on whatever you want to do
- They don't care too much when you do your work as long as you get it done
- Managers are chill, do not micromanage
Cons
- Managers sometimes are TOO chill, and don't give a crap what you do.
- Hard to find necessary information when needed.
- Some people sleep on the job.
Advice to Senior Management
Have a better mentor system for interns. Try to host better events for interns and new engineers to grow technically in.
Pros
Good learning opportunities come while working at broadcom
Cons
Pay is equal to the amount of work required
Advice to Senior Management
Work on professional and work life balance
Pros
Good senior management, Get to work on cutting edge things.
Cons
Compensation bad. Workplace quality not worth it.
Pros
Good benefits including Health Care benefits, reasonable work/personal life balance, aggressive executive management vision.
Cons
Not so great 401K matching, subjective time-off policy, fairly political setting and has issues most bigger organizations exhibit.
Advice to Senior Management
Continue with the employee feedback survey for gradually improvements.
Pros
A very talented group of engineers for the most part. Knowledge sharing was good within a group. For a large company, there was still a lot of innovation. There were a lot of opportunities to build up technical skills.
Cons
Too much overtime and work life balance was given lip service. Projects were always under severe time constraints. There was a lot of politics and the quality of managers was inconsistent.
