Pros
Good opportunities for learning on the job.
Cons
Fair treatment cannot be assumed.
Pros
Great technical talent, high performance expectations.
Cons
Prior managment of MPG had us going in a consistent positive ttrajectory, but like most old BRCMers, they were driven out. The current managment knows a lot less about the cellular market and changes their mind every week. It has become a joke. New management has finally realized that the old plans were correct, but we've lost 9 months.
Advice to Senior Management
Judge groups based on their track record, not based on politics.
Pros
- great technology
- expert co-workers
Cons
- no career opportunities
- work highly dependent on group
Pros
Engineering excellence - virtually everyone is a highly skilled engineer.
Decent compensation and generally fair promotion and compensation culture.
Opportunity to work on world-class projects.
Cons
Large international corporation, with many of the organisational politics that this brings. Centralised IT can be very impersonal. Many corporate policies are American-centric. All that said, these are not major drawbacks; Broadcom is by and large quite good and pleasant.
Advice to Senior Management
Generally very good. Keep up the strategy of getting into Tier-1 markets and making Broadcom #1 in these markets. Watch for needless damage to morale from company policies that don't take internationlism into account.
Pros
Interesting projects, can learn a lot. Broadcom still shows a great ability to innovate among the competitors. People are skilled.
Cons
Hard to manage between work and personal life. Pressure can be high, with demanding schedules. Being promoted above senior positions is difficult.
Advice to Senior Management
None at this time.
Pros
Can learn a lot from all the smart people there. Most of management are still very motivated to improve efficiency, process, and advancing technology.
Cons
Projects can have an unrealistic schedule. Leading to a very poor work & life balance. This is not recognized by the management. Also I don't think I've ever been thanked for doing a good job.
Pros
good work culture and great oppurtunities to explore new areas and learn new technologies, work on the cutting edge technologies and be ahead in the market in terms of the technical competency.
Cons
have to be on the toes all the time and stretch oneself
Pros
Good place to improve technical skills
Co-workers are pro-active and hence better work turnaround
Cons
Senior management is confused about employee career management, out of desperation make decision which is having negative impact on employee morale
Pros
no much choice in Canada, have to work for Broadcom. You have to be very adaptive to all the different works and new works.
Cons
work too long, too much works. Managers don't want you to take vacations. poor job security, people has to work hard to feel secure.
Pros
Work together with great and smart people.
Cons
Need to work during the weekend or holiday
No teambuilding
