Pros
Great technology, great engineers excellent benefits. The company benefits from the fact that it has been created from many startups because thats where the best engineers tend to be.
Cons
Big company vibe, since it has grown there is a definite increase in the Big Company management system. Just to be expected with a company this large in an environment this fluid
Pros
When you work at Broadcom, you get a chance to look at everything from the silicon, to the board, to the kernel, apps, etc. This is a very different mindset in comparison to other companies who use Broadcom products or similar companies chips/board. For example, if you work at networking company, most of the times you will touch some part of the stack or may be some application. Here we do everything.
Cons
Work and Life is not fairly balanced. Broadcom is very aggressive in competition which means we almost always promise the sky to the customer and as it happens sometimes deadlines slip and everyone is working late nights or is at customer sight resolving issues from a weeks stay to over a month. If you like to be challenged and not stick to one component (SW/HW) and also like travel then you will love the job (which I do too).
Advice to Senior Management
Management needs to plan very well. Yes every customer is important, but there should be realistic goals and a mindset for Agile thinking from eliciting product requirements to SW development to shipping and support.
Pros
Good pay, cutting edge technology, challenging projects
Cons
Engineering language is not English but Chinese
Advice to Senior Management
Make Broadcom an American company again
