It was my first internship experience and I learnt about how things work in a technical company.

Software Drivers Intern (Former Employee) Irvine, CA

Pros- Friendly and helpful managers and staff

    - Flexible timings. I interned while going to school and I was able to take time off during finals, midterms.
    - Learnt about latest developments in the field.

Cons- Currently going through budget cuts. Makes it hard to convert an intern position into a full time offer.

    good..... only for old timers

Principal IC Design Engineer (Current Employee) Irvine, CA

ProsA lot of good technical people.

ConsGood only if you're a old timer, especially your boss is your old pal. Performance review is a joke. If your boss is a newly promoted manager... no leverage. Stock and cash bonus were decided way up the chain. Job titles are jokes, too. So easy to be an Associate Technical Director..... for integrating a run-of-the mill IP ? Only way up is kiss ass.

Advice to Senior ManagementWake up and fix the culture. Otherwise, Qualcomm and MediaTek will kill BRCM really soon.

My experience at Broadcom has been educational.

Engineer, Test (Current Employee) Irvine, CA

ProsGet to work with top of the line equipment. Technical leads are impressive and provide a great wealth of knowledge and experience to learn from.

ConsVery slow mobility in terms of career growth.

Advice to Senior ManagementThere could be better organization of resources, both human and equipment. Equipment: Reallocate existing equipment and budgets for future equipment to fit the evolving needs of teams. Human: Periodically reassess who is appropriate for what job, encourage and educate team-players, and flush out flotsam.
