working with smart people who share information and experience freely
opportunity for advancement within many BU within the company

Irvine is quite and expensive city
research environment is not as good as Rampus or Intel
after being for awhile you might get bored

more parties are needed to socialize and get to know your peers.
provide housing for intern who is working for short period.
Pros
A vast majority of engineers I have worked with in Broadcom are very dedicated and technically very sound. Depending on when you join, the equity compensation could be very enticing.
Cons
As Broadcom grew it is losing its tradition. The company is becoming more and more top heavy. The equity compensation drastically rolled back and engineering work is no longer directly tied to compensation.
Advice to Senior Management
It takes risks to make Broadcom successful in the past and it will take risk for us to retain our market positions. Invest in the future and don't play second-fiddle to Q.
Pros
It is sometimes possible to publish the work done in the company, which is good if you reconsider academic positions. The designers' quality is pretty good.
Cons
Should give some awards, even small, to officially praise employee' excellent work in the company. The employees need some sort of advertisement.

be careful who you hire.

There are a lot of room for growth and development.
There are also a lot of different groups and job opportunities within Broadcom which allow people to try expand their expertise in different areas.

There are not a lot of Cons, however if it not a 9am-5pm type of job. It requires a lot of hours and dedication.

the best advice I can give is to increase opportunities for Technical growth by offering on site classes and sessions that would allow engineers to increase their expertise in different areas.

Lots of politics at management level. Crapy pay !!
Difficult to grow, lick your managers feet to come up, talk useless, shout, argue, play dirty games, trick others, insult others is the best way to work at Broadcom and get noticed.
Advice to Senior Management
Get you act together,manager says some different story than it's Director. Everybody at broadcom thinks that they are great :) and have a very stupid great attitude by working there. I mean its just one more company like others and infact other companies are better

Great products, good strategy. Excellent benefits, good compensation. Company cares about employees and listens to employees. CEO has great internal blog.

Nothing major, increase manager training.
