    I worked at Broadcom

    Pros

Great co-workers and Very good technical stuff to work on

    Cons

I have no pros for the netlogic group inside brcm,BRCM as such is a leader in switch market,But their poor acquisitions cost them dearly, Either Renesas(Mobile division) or Netlogic(embedded network processors) both proved to be disastrous.
No clear direction in these groups, No process followed ..No Timeline management..some junk management at top who do nothing other than saving their jobs
I believe Top management has already looking into it and cleaned up Mobile group and and cleaning up of Netlogic is under process
But pity thing here is Affected will be tech engineers who works like dogs and try themselves to align with groups worst process,All top Management will be still either there or moved to some other group and still doing wrong things

Other part is they lack innovation,They Have a stable switch market but how long it will survive if you have lack of innovation.I beg the top management to try something new buy starting a new team instead of doing some junk acquisitions which costed them so dearly

Last but not least HR people dont react even you give multiple complaints on Your manager behaviour or giving some counselling for a manger when people complaint constantly about him

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please dont do any mindless acquisitions ,If you want to try some thing New do a proper research before going a head

    Alsoplease cleanup the Junk

I have been working at Broadcom full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

The position was interesting and challenging. Most of the engineering staff is talented and supportive. The company keeps the employees informed of broad company issues.

    Cons

Work/life is difficult to manage. Management on lower levels is subjective and tends to be heavily influenced by personal preferences and biases.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Executive management should take a closer look at the practices of middle and lower management.

I have been working at Broadcom full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

good quality work and open work culture

    Cons

this is one company where new college graduates are paid more than existing employees for the same position. i am not talking about average performers, but well rated performers. so be careful before joining. politics between teams sometimes is very frustrating. recognition is also team dependent. many times you see below average performance getting recognized depending on team. many senior managers behaves rudely, when ball is in their court. don't be surprised if you hear "we are paying you to work" from director's mouth directly!

Former Employee - Regional Facilities Manager in Cambridge, East of England, England (UK)

I worked at Broadcom full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Most colleagues are great, they suffer in your pain so weekly meetings are a counselling session.

    Cons

Human Resources are poor, policies are from the 90's. It takes 10 approvals to get the smallest thing done and some of the older employees don't like new faces or ideas. It's not a progressive workplace for Real Estate or Facilities, the team moral across management is the lowest I've experienced within my career, Good ideas are not rewarded, it's dog eat dog for who screams the loudest. Be prepared to relocate time and time again.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If it can't be fixed just outsource it all, stop worrying about peoples feelings and challenge things when they are done wrong. Listen to your star performers or they will walk regardless of payrise, promotions you offer.
