An all around great place to work.

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

I worked at Broadmoor Hotel full-time for more than 3 years

ProsGreat benefits, company environment is like a family. They also offer tons of great training opportunities and classes. Not many companies left that operate like this.

ConsNature of the beast, when everyone else is having a holiday you will be the busiest.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep conveying to your employees that they are a cut above the rest and you appreciate them.

Your coworkers are family

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

I worked at Broadmoor Hotel for more than 7 years

ProsCaring management, great people to work with

ConsHours can be bad, due to the nature of the business.
It's a hotel, a fancy one at that, so there are some guests who think they are entitled to have everything.

Be a waiter/waitress somewhere before coming here

I worked at Broadmoor Hotel full-time

ProsIf you have exhausted all other options, then at least you can get some experience while you continue to look for jobs.

ConsUnfortunately, it is not uncommon to be scheduled to work 7 days in a row which also means you will not have time for interviews or a life. I worked in different departments and you often do not know next week's schedule until the day before the next week starts. A lot of people get in trouble for little things, get written up, and it goes in their file for other managers to read when they consider you for a different position. Sometimes it is not the work that is so bad, but the way everyone is treated by management. I have worked in fast food and other places, and I have never been so disrespected as I was at The Broadmoor.

Advice to Senior ManagementDon't say something will be taken care of and then completely drop it. I have been lied to so many times about "looking into something" or something that will be "all taken care of and not to worry about" only to find that it wasn't communicated to anybody and I end up 'getting in trouble.' Yes, 'getting in trouble' is the word employees use to describe many situations because we are treated like 6th grade students.

Company doesn't care for their workers

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Broadmoor Hotel full-time for more than a year

Proshardly any pros to this company

Consthe president of the hotel doesn't care for employees. Every department is under paid and not appreciated. Hardly anyone likes their job and the turnover in every department is awful. the only manager who cares for the property and its employees is the resident manager who in everyone's opinion should be the president of the hotel.

Advice to Senior Managementstart caring for your employees... remember that we all make way less money than they do and can hardly pay our bills.

Not a bad place to work for a little while, but not great unless you want to stay in the Hotel Business

Valet (Former Employee)
Colorado Springs, CO

I worked at Broadmoor Hotel

ProsThey provide you with training and the people you work with are great. My managers were very respectful of all their employees and treated us fairly.

ConsVery little pay throught the winter months if you live off tips. You never know what kind of shift you're going to get and only get you schedule one week in advance.

This is the worst job I've ever had.

Guest Services (Current Employee)
Colorado Springs, CO

I have been working at Broadmoor Hotel

ProsIt is a beautiful work environment, and most of the other employees are good to work with in the guest services department.

ConsUpper level management is really critical and can be harsh at times. They do not give enough hours to full time employees, so don't count on this job for your bread and butter. The pay is lousy.

Advice to Senior ManagementTry to care more about your employees instead of trying to look good to the guest. Stop playing mind games in order to drive your point across.

Very good. Great environment, great people.

Bellman (Former Employee)

ProsGreat location to live and work. Outstanding facilities, working their makes you think you are on vacation. Get to interact with outstanding people.

ConsThe guest is always right, even if they are not. Have to deal with snobs who think they own the world, who actually can barely afford their rent.

Advice to Senior ManagementDon't always listen to the hard to manage, winey employees who think they are entitled to get anything they want.

Small Fish in a Big Pond

Salon Tech III (Former Employee)
Colorado Springs, CO

I worked at Broadmoor Hotel

ProsYou get a chance to work with the best professional in the industry, and with the best products and equipment in the best environment! You also get to meet some amazing people from all over the world, both co-workers and guests.

ConsAt times, you can feel like herded cattle because there are so many employees it can become impersonal but once you get into your department you get settled.

Advice to Senior ManagementMaybe not put such a bend-over-backwards emphasis on VIP guests. It was as if I didn't try my hardest and go out of my way to make each guest feel special to be there and slacked if they weren't VIP. It didn't matter to me if they were there on a local military promotion or staying in the Penrose suite, that guest deserved to have a perfect service.

Mangement is Rude.

First and Second Shift Housekeeper (Former Employee)
Colorado Springs, CO

I worked at Broadmoor Hotel

ProsI would say the pro's of working at the Broadmoor would include the customer/guest interaction, which I enjoyed, and I also enjoyed the pay.

ConsCons of working at the Broadmoor in my opinion is th management. The managers were demanding, which is okay if you don't treat your employees like crap. I feel like the management demanded too much respect while giving out very little. The high paying client-el of the Broadmoor didn't treat you as bad as the management.

Advice to Senior ManagementI would tell the management that they should give more positive constructive critisism and I think they need to treat their employees with a little more respect if they want people to give 100% at their job.
