Pros
Very good customer service, quick turnaround for orders
A variety of processes and technologies employed in Manufacturing
Very good work ethic in front line employees and most all ranks
Leader in the industry, very recognizeable consumer product
Communication was pretty good for a facility of its size
Cons
Not much opportunity for career advancement
Decisions appear to be based on what one thinks one wants to hear, rather than being open and bringing up alternatives
Some "good ol' boy" culture very evident
Advice to Senior Management
Solicit more open and honest feedback and suggestions from those on the fronlines directly, many people are intimidated in offering suggestions or alternative ideas for fear of retalliation from their managers.
Pros
Great people to work with as long as they are not in management.
Cons
Management was horrible. If you had any concerns and spoke to them about it, they would never get back to you. Health benefits were always changing for the worst. They could never keep a VP, they changed every 6 months or didn't have one at all. HR were a very close knit team and heaven forbid if you disagreed with one of them, you never were able to get a fair shot at anything. Sales was disorganized which made Order Entry even worse - and it's like working at a labour camp, don't leave your desk or else!!!!
Advice to Senior Management
Hire competent upper management and keep them for a while

the money is good, the co-workers in most departments are good. too much good old boys attitudes. they like to put spin on reviews and make you feel worthless
Cons
management does not communicate effectively. they promote who they want not who is most experienced or capable. too much favoritism in all departments.
Advice to Senior Management
wake up, look around employees there for 40 years treated like trash, they are there because it is all they know.
Pros
The company has great customer service and really good products. They're built well and the company stands behind its products. It responds well to customer complaints, especially taking good care of consumers. The products are sold almost everywhere you'd want to find an exhaust fan and pros know the company well.
Cons
They're slow to get into new products and new categories, letting smaller competitors beat them to the punch. They continue to just milk the fan business, letting it drive most of the sales. Hasn't really come up with successful new product types in a while. Housing market slowdown has hurt.
Advice to Senior Management
Start moving a little faster and get into some new categories. Can't just keep selling the same fans and hoods to the same customers.
Pros
If you want to retire here with little risk of ever getting fired, this is a good place for you.
Cons
If you are someone who wants to advance and looking for professional growth, look elsewhere. Most employees have been here for many years in the same job.

Most of the senior team is getting ready for retirement.
