Get your acts together. People matters!

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) San Jose, CA

ProsOnce a great company. If you are looking for a storage job, brocade gives you a great brand. Ex-employees are successful in what they did later in career and you will be looked at the same angle.

ConsSenior engineering management is clueless and mostly political. Severe attrition in engineering management is the proof. No one complains while leaving, that just means they are numb after last few months.

Advice to Senior ManagementHire new executive engineering team that is people/community oriented. Enough money has been already saved by senseless layoffs and goalless cost cutting. Now let us save the people who are left. Let go the political management and keep the honest ones who really want to keep business as a priority.

    Too Much Offshore

Director IT (Current Employee) San Jose, CA

ProsGreat campus. Fast moving. Some interesting projects. Cafeteria food is awesome (Bon Apetit); subsidized, but you have to pay. Free work out facilities. Good kitchens.

ConsSenior IT management not aligned. Company not growing; just chugging along in a range. No interest in letting employees learn the business (e.g. no immersion, just start working and figure everything out). HCL offshore is extremely low quality.

Advice to Senior ManagementFigure out the business strategy and SELL.

good life-work balance, lots of opportunity for growth

Software Engineer (Current Employee) San Jose, CA

ProsHave many projects going on for new grads to accumulate their knowledge

Conslimited promotion space for entry level engineer because they are more likely to borrow people from acquired company and most are senior level or even higher

Advice to Senior ManagementCEO should have a clean vision on the company's future strategy instead of just encouraging people to think a change

Never thought it could happen here

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) San Jose, CA

ProsBrocade still pays above average compensation in this market and the benefits (RSUs, bonuses, vacation, etc) are very good compared to other large companies. If you have a good manager, it can be a decent place to work.

ConsNew senior exec think they're changing to company around to "a new definition of success". That's a great sound bite but they're not fooling anyone. Tick tock!

    Advice to Senior ManagementNone.

    Great Company

Systems Engineer (Current Employee) San Jose, CA

ProsBrocade is a great place to learn if you are college grad or even an experienced professional. They have a great program if you would like to transfer between departments. If you are willing to take the initiative you can learn alot here.

ConsLots of unnecessary meetings and processes.

Advice to Senior ManagementListen to your engineers, overloading them with extra unnecessary tasks on a tight timeline is going to cause quality to drop
