Pros
Brocade has a beautiful campus, airy offices, flexible hours, and open communication among workers. Everyone was very friendly and pro-Brocade.
Cons
Movement within the company seems a little restricted. Atmosphere, while comfortable was a little dull. Overall, nothing too bad about working there, but nothing extraordinary.
Advice to Senior Management
Brocade has a good product and the company has talented employees, but the Brocade name and image needs to be stronger.
Pros
engineering team is good.
peers in engineering are friendly
the location is convenient
loved to work with engineering, product marketing n operations
Cons
Zero tolerance of other ethinicities in some departments
Management is not supportive and ask employees to make compromises as in marriage and threaten them to fire from their jobs
Not a place for new moms
Advice to Senior Management
cultivate a Brocade culture of respect and tolerance and treat employess from all backgrounds equally
Pros
Decent salary and benefits if you don't factor in the forced overtime.
Nice new campus but engineering cubes are tiny (6x6 feet) with half-height walls and no privacy.
Close to shopping & restaurants.
Cons
Inept, nepotistic managers. They hire their relatives, friends, people they went to school with and give them the best jobs, lion share of promotions/salary increases and bonuses. Hard work gets you nowhere.
Mgmt is very secretive. You will be the last to know when anything changes. Mgrs spin a story about inclusiveness but it's all lies.
Corporate part of the company is bloated and overcompensated. There are literally directors/sr. directors with just one person reporting into them.
Legacy of Greg Reyes stock option scandal still haunts the company.
Company is in decline. Many good engineers are leaving.
Advice to Senior Management
Stop thinking about yourselves and get to work on fixing the product road map, recognizing key contributors (i.e. not managers), and implementing some real engineering processes instead of this fly by the seat of your pants mode.
Pros
process oriented work enviornment, talented engineers
Cons
tight shedules, not using latest technologies,
Advice to Senior Management
use latest technologies
Pros
Pay master, good benefits, excellent development processes in place
Cons
Company strategies are not strong enough and seems like the vision is missing
Advice to Senior Management
Need to provide a very good individual career path (technical or managerial) to retain top talents
Pros
flexible hours
good technology to work on
Cons
no open communication with employees from the top management
Advice to Senior Management
Be more open and be fail in compensation.
Pros
flexible work schedule, a lot of nice people to work with.
Cons
mandatory unpaid time off, promotion track is slow, execs get raises but employees get laid off, good talent is leaving, bad employee morale.
Pros
Great place to learn/grow your skills in a variety of fields
Cons
Will have to agressively negotiate for pay
Pros
new campus,cafeteria and gym facilities
Cons
1. No appreciation of good work for fresh graduates.
2. expected to work long hours and sometime on weekends
3. no work-life balance
4. salary is below market value and incompetitive and no increments since 2 years
5. too many shutdowns ( two times in a year ) and mandatory unpaid time offs
Advice to Senior Management
Acknowledge and give respect to the hard work of your employees and atleast give them bonus as promised rather forcing mandatory shutdowns on them and expecting long hours to work.
Pros
Cares about employees, great facilities (cafeteria, fitness center, restaurants close by), good technical learning, great for new university hires, and for people who want to dive deep
Cons
Some politics for an organization of this size, career advancement an issue, job rotation is an issue. Communication and ownership unclear in some parts of the organization
