Pros
1) They really are a bunch of decent people there - not many that I really didn't enjoy working with.
2) You won't go hungry during busy season - they bring in a lot of food!
3) They place a big emphasis on staying very, very current with technology.
4) They really do have a pretty good benefits package...even though dental just went away.
5) Considering the long hours that are worked in public accounting, they really are pretty flexible about your work schedule.
Cons
1) There are a lot of different management styles. In addition, I worked with many different managers. It's difficult to really switch between all those different managing styles because each one would want to see a particular project presented differently.
2) They emphasize the importance of communication, but there really were only a few people there (only 1 in management) that i felt i could "really" talk to
3) No mentoring program
4) There's a lot of change-over happening with a new managing director
Advice to Senior Management
Do more to seek out your employees and really try to understand them. Encourage real and open dialog with them.
Pros
Lots of small perks - food, pop, coffee, catered lunches, cake for the hand award, etc
Generally pretty flexible in regard to time off
They keep with the latest technology, so everyone has at least two monitors and great computer programs to work with.
Cons
The review processes are ridiculous. You are reviewed for every project you work on as well as your main review each year. The person handling your annual review isn't necessarily someone you work with on a normal basis, so they go off of what others have to say. One manager will tell you you're doing great and another will say you have a lot to improve upon. Whose word do you take?
The senior management cares about themselves and don't seem to care about anyone "below" them.
I've witnessed senior managers and directors bashing other employees and clients.
The work-life balance is terrible.
Advice to Senior Management
Knock it off with the plethora of reviews. They don't provide good feedback and reviews should work both ways (up the chain and down the chain).
