    Good ownership, business getting better lately.

    No Growth, micro management from middle management.

    Consider commission bonus plan for employees.

    Pros

    40 hour work week with great health benefits

    Cons

    Unless you know someone your job is always at risk no matter how well you perform. Too much in the way of politics in upper management. Complaints not taken seriously and used against you in some instances.

    Advice to Management

    You should look at your employees as people not just numbers. Open door policy is a farce. Favoritism runs rampant in this company! No chance for advancement if you are not in the "boys club"

    Pros

    The family atmosphere and repore between employees is casual and friendly. The staff tend to be genuinly good people. The Hatfield location encompases a comfortable work environment.

    Cons

    I found a consistent lack of opportunity for advancement. The annual bonus was very small in respect to other companies in this industry. From my experience the starting salary is on the low end of the average for sales, purchasing, and supervisory positions.

    Advice to Management

    Maintain accountability, transparancy, and develope more clear efficient lines of communication with all levels of internal and external customers.

    Pros

    great millwork distribution system
    great customer base
    President of Company is very very competent and sometimes innovative!

    Cons

    President of Company has empowered people in leadership roles to direct the company into the future and my belief is that they will be successful,however,this hundred + year old company owes its success to longtime loyal employees of which there "were"many!In years past Brockway ownership(family owned)has been very loyal to longstanding employees,that is not the case anymore.With the new young leadership of Brockway comes a different value system and loyal employees are quickly becoming disregarded.This is a contradiction of what they ask from their customers,THEIR LOYALTY!

    Advice to Management

    Do not forget the values of the past presidents of Brockway Smith Co.
