Rolling changes make for frustrated employees and poor morale

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Williamsport, PA

ProsThe work is stimulating and there is a loyal customer base.

ConsInflexibility regarding scheduling and time-off. Feeling like you are just a cog in the wheel.

Advice to Senior ManagementConsider your employees as people and not just the bottom line. You've lost many good employees with extensive knowledge and they haven't been replaced (or if they have it's been at much lower cost to you).

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend

Inconsistent decision making by upper management has eroded a good company

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsGreat group of co workers dedicated to providing a great product

ConsUpper management treats employees like a liability not an asset. Heavy top down management that takes care of its own while ignoring and diminishing employee benefits.

Advice to Senior ManagementReinvest in people. Partner with creative and visionary vendors that can develop new products in a dynamic marketplace.

Takes a lot gives very little

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Lock Haven, PA

ProsTons of hands on experience that most would not get at a bigger company

ConsA lot is expected of many employees and compensation is not commensurate with responsibilities. Upper management is incompetent at best. It is generally a "my way or the highway" attitude. Instead of being direct or try to get a team atmosphere upper management would rather be deceitful or steam roll workers to get their way. A very bad place to work with very low morale and no direct efforts to improve.

Advice to Senior ManagementListen to employees, compensate better, recognize good work, correct mistakes without belittling.

Working for Brodart is fine as long as you don't expect to be a front runner or trend setter in your industry.

    Sales (Current Employee)

ProsJob is straight forward and calls for lots of time in the field calling on libraries, both public and academic.

ConsTravel to headquarters in Williamsport, PA can be difficult and problematic.
