    Pros

The hours are great, two shifts 6am-2pm or 10:30am-6:30pm. Pay is decent, lots of locations to transfer to. Plenty of room in the company to grow

    Cons

Only 1 cook for breakfast and lunch. And 1 cook for dinner. 1 person cannot make quality food (2 entrees, a veg & a starch) plus all of the special order food by themselves. Untrained, under-skilled, underpaid dishwashers are expected to help with service. Chef lacks passion, menus are redundant. Lots of unhappy coworkers makes for a negative vibe.

    Pros

I was able to help people find the best solution for their loved ones to the best of my ability

    Cons

I wasn't always able to help people and it hurt my heart. Management was horrible and the company doesn't care about anyone but themselves

    Advice to Management

A supervisor should be a positive role model. They should build up their employees not break them down and make them feel miserable. They also should be knowledgeable about their product and able to asist when necessary. They should communicate with other supervisors and be on the same page rather than making up their own rules because they feel like it

    Pros

Provided one has an Executive Director who manages their business and staff effectively; the community offers a relatively pleasant work environment. Each community provides staff their lunch meal.

    Cons

As a retirement business, Brookdale has fallen prey to the money hungry corporate tycoons who require their employees to sacrifice quality of service for the sake of saving payroll. In this line of business (retirement communities) it is difficult to subject older adults to a lower standard of living when they're paying for a higher quality of life environment.

    Advice to Management

Brookdale has become diluted within the individual communities. Brookdale allows support for the middle management team but seems to have little regard for staff members who make the effort day-in-day-out with the residents. A good CEO would initiate the infrastructure of these community's, and embrace the lowest paying staff member as an important piece of the business. Oh what a difference this would make, from the last to the first.
