Pros
Hard working and intelligent employees
Cons
Lack of train program for newcomers
Pros
Excellent benefits, 401k match etc.. but that isn't enough reason to stay. The people are generally nice but also have a ton of egos in IT Management. I personally do not look @ a company to make friends so the 'nice' people didn't warrant this company getting a good rating.
Cons
they outsource everything so forget about learning anything new.
they treat consultants better than FT employees.
IT Management pretty clueless and refuse to take ownership of anything. Mgmt would rather outsource in order to avoid being blamed for any failures.
Very low morale among employees. People generally wait around for bonus time to then start looking for something new.
A lot of talking but very little action.
Advice to Senior Management
listen to employees.
perhaps give internal, FT employees a chance before consultants.
Pros
They have amazing health benefits and a good 401K match program.
Cons
Where I worked the management was terrible and the turn over was high for the profession.
Advice to Senior Management
The senior mangement needs to look at the leadership abilities and turn over at each building and determine if the assistant cheifs, cheifs, and regional VPs of engineering are working effectively.
Pros
The company is pretty stable and a leader in the Industry. Brookfield Properties is medium sized which I find to be just about right, but is a matter of personal opinion. I find the people to be very nice and there is a great atmosphere in the office. There is good communication between departments as well. Saleries are competative but not fantastic. From what I've seen they prefer to promote from within. There are plenty of company events to boost morale.
Cons
The company expanded but recently made cuts when the economy went south. Brookfield has become more corporate over the past few years losing the family feel it once had.
Advice to Senior Management
Training and professional development is important. Keep up the good work.
Pros
Stability, ability to grow, lots of training provided, lots of job variety.
Cons
Benefit not as nearly as good as oil and gas company, sometimes work is tedious.
Advice to Senior Management
Good job.
Pros
Employees are treated very well. Recognition is given to outstanding employees and everyone's input into company policy and operations is always considered.
Cons
Promotion can be difficult depending on your field of work
Advice to Senior Management
Change the on-call portion of maintenance workers.
