I have been working at Brooklyn College full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Working in a University environment gave me the flexibility I wanted to be able to spend time with my family and have time for some of my other passions. Moreover I was able to build upon my teaching skills and gain more experience. There are good benefits that are made available to all the employees.

    Cons

The biggest challenge can be the staff. In a university setting there aren't many opportunities for the staff to interact with each other on a daily bases. Therefore, creating friends really comes down to research/teaching interests. Plus getting into the good graces of people.
