Pros
Generous Discount (50 percent)
Over time available
Flexible Hours
Cons
Small Raises
Opportunity for bonuses are connected with stores performance
Pros
50-60% clothing discount was decent.
There is a sample sale every couple of months.
Cons
Place is ridddled with inept senior management who got their jobs because of poilitics. They can't get anything done. The place has NO training. This tells you alot. Never saw a company like this. They have a Peoples Services that only takes care of themselves. Agree with its Who You Know review.
Advice to Senior Management
Take a look at how the leaders don't know what they are doing. Invest in some training because there was none.
Pros
An iconic brand luxury brand
Cons
Commissioned base no expiration on return policy, inexperienced management team forba flagship store
Advice to Senior Management
Corporate resteructure and move managers around
Pros
It is an opportunity to work at an iconic brand that occupies a specific niche in the retail market. Great recognition and there is a sense of pride working for the company. Benefits are relatively decent.
Cons
Difficult to be excited about some of the product, due to sourcing of product. The company is slowly moving in right direction technologically and makes curious decisions that probably do well in large markets but not practical in mid to small markets.
Advice to Senior Management
Disapprove with lots of the sourcing and quality issues with Brooks products that used to be source of pride. Move away from original mission statement and shift towards money making machine attractive enough to sell with minimal upgrades.
Pros
Decent pay, good management and fun employees.
Cons
Requested to work to many weekends
Advice to Senior Management
none..overall good place
Pros
The opportunity to develop wonderful personal and professional relationships with both clients and fellow associates.
Cons
The compensation program for sales associates is total commission. They are a company who claim to have built its foundation on legendary customer service and client relations. However after working there you soon learn that this is bogus B.S. You quickly learn that it is all about the numbers...I had an exemplary track record in providing legendary customer service. I had clients write letters of gratitude on my behalf. I went above and beyond to service the client and provide them with the service that I feel Brooks Brothers represents. How disillusioned I felt when I was let go because my NSPH was below company guidelines. I have seen in my years of service clients literally walked away from and refused service because greedy associates felt they would not warrant a high dollar sale, hence commission compensation. I would see this same behavior produced over and over again. Many times customers complained to me regarding these certain individuals. I did hold keys to the store and at times acted as management. Customers complained to me regarding these certain individuals, insisting on my service, and were appalled that BB had individuals like them representing the company. Unfortunately, they are still there and I have been let go....Why because I chose to service each and every client diligently and with integrity....never based on what I would acquire from the interaction...for my service is based on professionalism and personal integrity. I am left questioning the true intentions of Brooks Brothers...and the foundation this company has been built upon. For it is clearly not Legendary Customer Service....but rather GREED.
Advice to Senior Management
After my experience, I would strongly suggest that Mr. Del Vecchio rethink his compensation program. He will continue to loose a great many associates who are diligent in making it about the client experience, rather than viewing each client as merely another $ to line their pockets.
Pros
Everyone who works with me is PASSIONATE about customer service and people.
The upper management (ie regional directors) actually know your name and care about what's going on in your life. And here's the thing--they actually believe that it's part of their job! I've never worked in a more supportive environment.
The quality of benefits is astounding and the discount is 50% off everything.
Compensation is highest among other retailers with similar price points, in my experience.
Cons
Brooks Brothers isn't a very household name on the west coast, so traffic can be very low since it is more of a destination shopping point.
Compensation varies store to store. Some stores pay only commission, some pay base+commission, some pay hourly wage AGAINST commission.
Advice to Senior Management
It seems that it is possible for people in operations and support to grow with the company, but sales people stay in their positions for years and years.
Pros
nothing too complicated. learn about product and assist customers. not too sure about advancement opportunities. the company does care about their image and the customers word of mouth.
Cons
not too sure about advancement. the location im at isnt too busy so i wonder how long this will stay open. the pay is low compared to the mark up of the items. discounts for employees only, no family.
Advice to Senior Management
it all depends on who your manager is. most managers should do well but keep in mind that your customer base is expected to spend 80 dollars on chinos so they want good service and a clean area.
Pros
It is a large company, with a good overall reputation. The clothing they sell is a very high quality, and that would lend credibility to a job.
Cons
The manager was very rude to employees, except for one, who was obviously her favorite. I was in Running Start and had to split my time between high school, college, and the job. The manager knew that when she interviewed and hired me. Then she would get angry at me for only being 10 minutes early to my shift instead of 20 minutes early, or when I had to leave right away after my shift ended instead of sticking around for 15 minutes to talk about things not related to work.
Advice to Senior Management
Treat your employees with more respect. They are the ones who support you in your job, and you need them. And whether you realize it or not, customers notice how you treat the employees.
Pros
Most Brooks Brothers offer a very pleasant store to work in. The moral can very from store to store depending on the individual store's management.
Cons
Although most stores are pleasant places to work for, and there is a strong customer loyalty factor, it is a sales environment and your co-workers can get very competitive.
Advice to Senior Management
Management needs to handle H.R. issues on a timely basis and not try to "sweep them under the carpet" hoping that the problem goes away. Also, consistancy with policy and proceedures with all associates is necessary.
