I worked at Brooks Brothers full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

None that I can think of, there could be so much good here if upper management didn't leave the day to say operations in the hands of horrible district managers.

    Cons

I have been in retail for almost 10 years and I have NEVER seen a company that is so out of touch with their customer, associates and everyone in between. The clothing hasn't changed in over 200 years and it shows in the clothing! Who the heck wants to wear purple dragon fly pants and bright orange and yellow sweaters! And then the pressure is on the poor people working in there store to try and save this failing company and the minute you refuse to work 60 hour weeks you are "not doing your job" I have seen first hand that they are using unethical tactics to fire older associates just to bring in children to run a business they know nothing about. They should be embarrassed. Please do yourself a favor, do not get caught up in the lies they try and use to recruit you, run far far away from this sinking ship!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop letting your district managers chase people out of your business. You need to start there before you keep putting down the people doing their absolute hardest to earn a living and run these stores while your dm's come in maybe once a month just to criticize and then leave.

    Pros

Good management and good company culture. New North American CEO has excellent direction from his counterparts and CEO.

    Cons

Retail is retail they could pay more to give employees some incentives to stay and not hit higher ground when the work place gets busy.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider to promote from outside opposed within.

I worked at Brooks Brothers full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Good company benefits like 401k.

    Cons

Worst managers, Regionals and Districts who never visit the stores, replacing older experienced sales people with younger inexperienced sales staff to cut cost, bullying people into quitting, rampant favoritism, 100 percent commision and no oversight in place. Our current store manager was a waiter before this job and has no understanding of basic skills as knowing anything about mens suits or how to open a credit card account. The store productivity is half of what it was this time last year because they forced all experienced sales staff out.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Stop treating employees like children.

I worked at Brooks Brothers full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Retail Sales Associate here gets paid better than at peer companies

    Cons

Straight up commision pay at flag ship locations creates a very ugly and unhealthy environment.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Should roate commissioned sales associates among departments as each department has different nich and volume and one has much greater advantage than the other(s). For example, women's and children departments have way smaller nich and lower volume than, say, men's sports wear.
