Pros
Great first job company. Flexible hours. Fun work environment. Highly regarded as one of the best companies in the nation.
Cons
Sometimes you will occasionally get a boss who is horrible at his or her job and blames you for everything.
Advice to Senior Management
I would suggest to Brookshires Brothers management and company that they should start treating people with more respect and what not.
Pros
The experience of working there helps if you are pursuing other careers in which you are socially involved with people.
Cons
At times, some of the other employees can be a bit rude. The same goes to some of the customers.
Advice to Senior Management
Do everything you are required to do and not slack around. Be respectful to the customers because they are always right.
Pros
Will hire almost anyone, if you know the right people you can get away with not working but still get paid, they will let you off for immediate family emergencies, can request days off, works schedules around high scool functions.
Cons
No benefits for over 80% of employees which is why they hire part time only.Double standard is everywhere in the company, if they like you its good but beware if they don't. The office doesn't answer the phones, customer service is poor at best. Pay is very low and raises are minimium amount no matter how good of a job you do.
Advice to Senior Management
Quit padding each others pockets and patting each other on the back, its time someone came in and cleaned house to get this company back to making money instead of using the ESOP to stay afloat.
Pros
Wonderful co workers. Everyone is willing to pitch in as a team to help each other get the job done.
Our work schedule is flexible and if you ask for time off in writing at least a week in advance you
will usually get the time off you need. Customers in Salado are very polite and friendly to work
for. Big emphasis on customer service.
Cons
Everyone is part time. Some weeks you may only get 14 hours and other weeks you will get up
to 30 hours. Your relief for your shift may be late and you will be expected to stay until your
relief shows up or they can call someone in.
Advice to Senior Management
Look for ways to reward superior performance in your store. Employees who are never late or
never call in sick. Reprimand workers showing up late for there shifts. I mean consistently late
for there shifts. Get rid of the slackers. It is bad for morale and makes a bad impression for any
new people you train and hire. Slackers make the rest of us pull their work load. Eventually management who lets bad behavior slide ends up losing their competent employees to other
companies and is only left with the slackers.
Pros
being able to help customers with what they want and need is the best part of working at Brookshire Brothers. I like alot of the people I work with also.
Cons
Everyone is always screaming to cut labor cut labor cut labor but always wanting everyone to do more and more with less and less pay. Managers do not appreciate the people that work hard every day.
Advice to Senior Management
Give some real attention to the people that get the work done. Take just a little time to show just a little appreciation for those that are trying to do a good job.
Pros
outstanding medical benefits, early closing hours, simple non technical work, friendly co workers, employees are paid weekly, paychecks can be cashed in store for free.
Cons
very low pay rate, upper management withholds information from regular staff, 90%+ of staff considered 'part time' no m atter how many hours they work so no medical benefits offered for them, full time staff pays for their own medical benefits, no employee discount on any products, firmly entrenched 'good-ole-boy' network for promotion procedures in place
Advice to Senior Management
more communication and information sharing, fairness policy with regard to hiring/promotion needs to be followed rather than just exist on paper, new standard for part-time/full-time definitions to allow those averaging more than 30 hours per week to have benefits available to them
