    Pros

If you work hard, you can move up to better positions. They are very fair with starting pay; usually above minimum wage. They give raises about twice a year if you have good reviews from manager.

    Cons

Working with a lot of high school kids is a challenge because some are very immature.

I have been working at Brookshire Grocery full-time

    Pros

Usually clean, friendly staff, carts are never in the parking lot which is great, best produce in the area usually.

    Cons

I believe that the company is very MALE oriented. If you are a white male who has a degree, or past experience, then you will go far with this company. Very few women actually in management.
Prices are ALWAYS high...even within different stores in the same city the prices are usually high!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make the management environment open to women!
Realize that you have price competition in the area and lower prices!

    Pros

Not a lot of room for advancement. A good raise is almost impossible to get.

I worked at Brookshire Grocery part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Corporate is good. They always give employees the opportunity to grow and move up in the company as well as rewards and bonuses to receive based on performance.

    Cons

Local Management wasn't so great. There were a lot of biased, individuals that I worked for. The money was also kind of low. You don't get any discounts, and your "raises" were a quarter. I asked for the opportunity of moving up from courtesy clerk, or bag boy, to cashier and got told regularly that it would happen. Unfortunately in the 2 years I was there, I gained 2 pay raises ($.50) and never got promoted.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Raise the wages, look at becoming patient with people, be considerate of your employes, work hard to make them as successful as possible.

    Pros

You at least have a job.

    Cons

it's working for a company that's messy and unprofessional, at least at the store level.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

make sure that the store management is treating their employees like humans, and if customers are making crude racial and sexual remarks about an employee in front of management, they should say something.
