Pros
The customers are awesome; always complimenting us about how friendly we are. Co-workers are very helpful with assiting each other.
Cons
We need more store locations in our city. Would like to work only the morning shift ;-). Really don't have any complaints about working for Super1Foods.
Advice to Senior Management
Continue to provide a an exciting shopping experience for our customers. Continue to hire the best people to serve the consumers.
Pros
Good first job, just be cautious of management and the "raises" they give. Good customer service experience.
Cons
Non competitive pay, and you really need to watch out if you get promoted be sure they give you a raise. I was promoted 3 times and the only raise i received was my 2 year raise.
Advice to Senior Management
Most of the lower management (assistant managers) can really relate with you since they usually have more recent experience of being in your position. Store directors are generally out for covering their own.
Pros
Good health and 401 K benefits compared to other jobs. Good working conditions compared to other jobs. Good place to work.
Cons
The growth potential in the company could be better. Better training is needed for management and supervisors.
Pros
It is a fairly easy job and its easy to get time off.
Cons
Not enough hours and there is a ton of drama. Management is promoted and fails rather quickly due to lack of training. Playing favorites in this company is a huge downside. There are workers that put forth a lot of effort that is not acknowleged. People will step all over fellow employees to get what they want.
Advice to Senior Management
Stop worring about your titles and start worrying about the business. This is a christian based business so act like it. Being upper management does not give you the right to talk down to others and belittle them.
Pros
small town pay better than most
Cons
pay not comparible to similar work
Pros
They are a very family oriented company. Christian based-with prayers before and after meetings! I had an experience where my brother ended up in ICU after a 4-wheeler wreck, they never questioned my being off to be there at the hospital for over a week and even sent me cards with phone cards inside, in case I needed to make long-distance phone calls. They sat up donation jars inside the store I worked in and ask if they needed to do a blood drive or anything else to help my brother, me or other family members! Now, there is a company that stands behind there employees!!!
Cons
I cannot think of any downsides to working of working for Brookshire's other than not being as competive in technician salaries!
Advice to Senior Management
The only feedback that I can give them is be more competive in technican pay! And, go, go ,go! You are a wonderful company to work for and I brag about it too!
Pros
Seems like a decent company that has been around a long time.
Cons
Hard to move up unless you know somebody.
Advice to Senior Management
Let the slackers go and keep the good employees.
Pros
Brookshire grocery company was an interesting place to do an internship. It wasn't fantastic but it gave a lot of opportunities to learn from experienced professionals.
Cons
Not a whole lot of growth potential within the company. Also have to deal with a lot of low wage workers and their issues.
Advice to Senior Management
A better and more complete training program would be nice. Something that is more substantial and organized would help with the development of future employees.
Pros
Friendly Customers. You do not have to work on the holidays. Pretty decent and accomodating hours. Easy to catch onto the work ethic.
Cons
Can be demanding on nearing the holidays. Benefits are not that plentifable. The job itself can become somewhat montonous, but overall there isn't too much to complain about unless you enjoy some excitement.
Advice to Senior Management
There isn't much that I can offer other than some included benefits, considering that alot of highschool students and college students, maybe potential college students take this job.
Pros
nice and friendly atmosphere, almost like a family, you get 5 paid holidays after being there for 90 days, we get Christmas and Easter off every year, very church oriented company, get evaluations for pay raise every 6 months, get christmas bonus every year (if part time its a certain percent of weekly pay check---yes we get paid every wedensday, if full time or have been there at least a year get average weekly check)
Cons
may interact with rude customers who are unappreciative of your actions; they have "ceilings" for pay in each department, the amout of the pay raise varys per store no less than 25 cents
Advice to Senior Management
keep up good work, people enjoy shopping at our stores better than at Walmart or other competing stores
