    Pros

This place is great, we work with horses and farm animals. We get to do educational farm tours, and pony rides for little kids, and trail rides with the horses. We get paid to be around horses all day, and ride.

    Cons

The heat is the biggest con. It's so hot and humid outside and in the barn and farm areas. Of course this is Florida. There aren't many full time positions, so most of us can only work part time, being 2 days only a week. No benefits. We don't get paid based on experience, we all start the same price. Other empolyees in other areas of the park get paid more to do way less work.

    Advice to Management

More full time positions. Benefits. Better raise, and advancement options. Faster hiring and approval times. Higher up mangers listening to each departments managers needs for their employees and facilities.

    Pros

They support and encourage forward thinking, improved processes, advancing technologies. You will truly be making a difference and contributing to the community by working for a public employer. They are currently updating/improving their class and pay system to be more competitive in their peer marketplace. They support and practice equitable and equal opportunity employment practices. They currently have an "above average" benefits package within their peer marketplace.

    Cons

High standards of service, open government, transparency are absolute requirements for public service jobs - not a good fit for everyone. Be prepared to multi-task on a regular basis; it's never boring!

    Advice to Management

Stay focused on the big picture and strategic priorities; don't let day-to-day skirmishes distract you and lead you astray.

    Pros

Pension, if you stay long enough, free parking,

    Cons

Many unethical, lazy, and incompetent individuals with a sense of entitlement who do not care about serving the public and do not practice transparency. The recent review on here from HR is bogus, and has obvious intent. They paint a very rosy (but phony) picture in an effort to improve the county's poor image as an employer. What else would you expect from HR? Those who report misconduct are dealt with, and quickly gone, despite the supposed "policies".

    Advice to Management

Much of current management should be replaced and HR should stop white-washing the issues and trying to put their spin on things to better the county's image. Don't retain lazy, crooked, incompetent people.

This was an OK place the work, the bureaucracy got silly at times but overall it was fine.

    Cons

    Pros

They have great benefits, they value professional development and work-life balance, and it is typically a low stress working environment.

    Cons

Poor culture, a lot of older, disgruntled employees, and outdated systems. Whenever they try to update old systems, they hire a low bid contractor and it never turns out right.

    Advice to Management

It's not 1980 anymore! The old way of doing things is inefficient whether the "boomers" will accept it, or not. Also, you get what you pay for!
