    Pros

Large multi faceted company that provides opportunities to learn and grow for self starters.

    Cons

Hard to break into mid/upper management if you are not willing to 'play the game.'

    Advice to Management

Merit based promotions should be standard.

    Pros

Clinical staff have longevity, but there is no job security outside of clinical staff..

    Cons

Leadership is poor, no communication to staff. Political alliances and not promoted based on merit. The experience of clinical staff is extensive, but they are not cutting edge. Too laid back and it affect everything.

    Advice to Management

Listen to newer staff coming from outside the organization before they lose their drive for fighting an uphill battle.

    Pros

Gained a lot of experience and obtained trauma skills. Other than that run as far away as possible , this department is going down hill fast . Killing patients doesn't even matter as long as you kiss butt and " bring in money to the hospital " while being completely abused by staff and patients !

    Cons

Toxic environment , low pay, no opportunity to grow , you're always dispensable . Management could care less about great nurses and do not value employees and loyalty.

    Advice to Management

Treat your loyal staff like they should be treated . Give some kind of incentive to motivate employees. LISTEN to them! Show consistency and follow through. Management is absolutely horrible !

    Pros

Longevity if you are in a clinical area or part of the executive staff

    Cons

If you are not in a clinical setting and working in any other area of the hospital, good luck! New CEO, no one knows what is expected of them, all trying to figure out what new leadership wants. It's very political and cliquish, if you aren't in the in crowd you are on your own. Chances are someone will not like you and then you are out, what a way to work, this company needs to get with the program and be a leader, because their leadership is sure not cutting it!

    Advice to Management

No loyalty, you say one thing and do another, confidentiality in this organization is a joke and should be taken more seriously!

    Pros

Working with premature infants and their families.

    Cons

Management in the NICU and the hospital does not care a bit about their employees in the unit. Huge turnover where they are always hiring young, inexperienced nurses due to budget cuts. The unit is a disgusting mess, with old equipment and not enough cleaning staff. 5 patients per nurse has become a norm in there which is a hug safety issue. Lots of gossiping between the nurses and employees are continuously dissatisfied which makes for a terrible work environment

    Advice to Management

hire people who know what they are doing not people you know

    Pros

Good work environment overall and diverse group of co workers.

    Cons

In the ICU some of the senior nurses are mean and hostile towards new nurses at Broward Health General . The managers let them get away with rude unprofessional behavior on the day shift, it was the worst experience of my career training there in 2007. After you make it through orientation and become an expert you realize that those nurses behave that way because they are afraid of new nurses of diverse backgrounds outshining them in clinical practice.

    Advice to Management

All managers should hold Master's degrees and behave in a professional manner at all times.

    Pros

Whay can i say about this employer? The halls are motly clean the the walls are mostly yellow. Thete are hundreds of name less faces the roam the halls on weekdays and ghost crews the work on weekends and nights.

    Cons

A promise of every oyher weekends was often said, yet in reality, most every person's schedule can be altered the day before. Gym membership is not needed as the travel from ER to the Cafeteria seems like half a mile hike.

    Advice to Management

Actual dollar amount raise instead of abstract values of 2 or 3 percent.

    Pros

great pay, flexible schedule, valued as an employee, easy to get time off, really nice co-workers, manager spoke with staff before implementing changes and sometimes did not implement when staff opposed ideas

    Cons

lots of turnover at Broward General, not all broward health facilites are the same, employees being asked to destaff because over-budget

    Advice to Management

keep doing what you're doing, thank you for valuing your employees
