Pros
The customers that come in everyday know your name and are excited to see you. The environment and workers are fantastic and fun.
Cons
The salary was not high enough for the work completed. There was always a ton of work to do and the salary was never able to increase.
Advice to Senior Management
Shift Supervisors are managers and run the store by themselves at times, but they have no discipline abilities for those under them.
Pros
its a paycheck-- at best--
Cons
As the native americans once said :they speak with forked tongue" there is no moral backbone in this co-- they will do whatever and to whomever as long as they cut salary- cost lower cost of goods sold and generate more bottom line and they do this in the most underhanded ways
Advice to Senior Management
look at succesful rest co and learn how to give great cust service it isn't by cutting staff to 0 and then beratting them for not doing a perfect job then firing them
Pros
You get to start shifts early and end them early to free up rest of the day. Easy, straightforward. Discount/Free food.
Cons
Nothing about this job was terrible. They dont really make you do anything you wouldnt expect them to ask of you. The worst part was smelling like an everything bagel after work; but nothing a shower cant fix.
Advice to Senior Management
Find ways to make work more fun, even if its just little things like getting to know your employees a little better.
Pros
Easy restaurant management job, no late nights, no waitstaff or kitchenstaff, great corporate training, 2 paid holidays for managers
Cons
EARLY mornings, no paid time off for one year, family insurance really expensive
Advice to Senior Management
Give 3 weeks paid vacation in this industry from the start
Pros
Started out as a good job... Worked there for over 2 years. You work with only a few people which can be nice (but not if you're understaffed... read below). Also, a lot of people may like this... You may have to be there very early in the morning but then you are finished by 2pm or so depending on your position. And the store isn't open past 6 or 7 so you have nights off.
Cons
Ended as a bad job. I quit for one main reason. The management had gone down the toliet. I was use to doing my work and then all of a sudden 2 people quit and no one was hired to replace them for over two month. So, basically I had to do an extreme amount of extra work, got paid the same, and looked like a idiot. This setup is never good for A)the employee, B)the customer, or C)any co-worker. I decided to not let them walk all over me and quit. Best decision I made.
Advice to Senior Management
Get it together and don't go understaffed and expect to keep the people who you think are loyal you you!
Pros
- they promote within, if you do a good job they will notice and promote you quickly. Senior Management actually try to get to know all staff.
Cons
just like any type of restaurant or retail job you are expected to work a varied shift. Night, weekends, and early mornings are a must
Advice to Senior Management
I can't complain, when I worked there the general manager of the store was very knowledgeable and wouldn't ask the staff to do anything he wouldn't do himself. The district manager was extremely friendly and understanding, always tried to help the staff in any way possible. This is the only place i've worked where I've seen the regional manager several times a year, and more than just checking up on store she would actually work.
Pros
Great product. Excellent training program. Customers are extremely friendly and respectful towards all of the team members. Fun environment to work as long as you are not running short handed.
Cons
Freeze on raises for 2 years. Too much politics in certain markets. Not measured on results but whether or not the boss likes you. No recourse if you dissagree. There is too much autonomy at market level.
Advice to Senior Management
Upper mgmt should be more involved with what is happening in each market. Some market directors operate on their own agenda with their priorities not matching the company goals.
Pros
50% off food forty-five minutes before or after shift, which is actually a con. That's extremely stingy for a restaurant. Good hours.
Cons
Everything. From limited benefits to sloppy management, it was just an all around miserable experience. On the first day, my manager called me a moron and that was just a taste of how professional it was.
Advice to Senior Management
Grow up. Just because a lot of you are in a dead end job and are 40+ doesn't mean you should take it out on the rest of the staff.
Pros
customer interaction, no late nights
Cons
not a team feel, extra early mornings
Advice to Senior Management
listen to us
Pros
Easy, working with people and part of a team
Cons
No bonus opportunities and extremely low pay.
Advice to Senior Management
I would say be careful who you hire as managers and be a little more flexible on customers requests.
