    Pros

Great people, interesting work, reasonable expectations (i.e., work-life balance to the extent that can be had in a big law firm).

    Cons

Pay is under market. Other offices feel secondary to St. Louis.

    Advice to Management

STL is not the center of the universe. And you need to compensate in order to retain good people--it's that simple. Especially where there is strong competition from companies that offer high salaries and excellent benefits/perks.

Good law firm to work for with good benefits.

    Cons

I have been working at Bryan Cave (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Work is challenging and rewarding, staff are well respected and treated well, attorneys care about their work.

    Cons

There is little chance of advancement, the company does not offer or help with training.

    Advice to Management

Having the staff feel like there was a chance of advancement and or training to learn new skills would keep employees with the company longer

    Pros

The salary is good and the amount Paid Time Off was better than anywhere I've ever worked.

    Cons

Everyone is very unhappy. BC bought up other firms and kept all the senior employees, so five years after the buy up, people are STILL talking about life before BC bought them. It gets old fast. And they hate everything about the central office. It isn't fun.

    Pros

Love working here, very family oriented.

    Cons

There needs to be more communication from management to staff. Staff feels a little left out at times . Otherwise there are no complaints.

    Pros

Bells and whistles are seemingly amazing. Nice offices. Nice buildings. Great vacation package. Very professional with their clients.

    Cons

The pay was very low and it offered very little room for growth or advancement. The company is worldwide and does not like internally for advancement.

    Pros

Some wonderful, smart, genuinely good and talented people. A decent public presence.

    Cons

Some smarmy, ineffectual and downright duplicitous people.

    Advice to Management

Stop letting the idiots run the asylum. Take a good look at your OMPs and ask why they are there. If it's just their book of business (or some "king maker's" book of business who put them there), hmmm, maybe they shouldn't be there.

I have been working at Bryan Cave full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Most attorneys were easy to work with, staff was great, work life balance was reasonable, decent benefits.

    Cons

little in the way of bonuses or raises after recession, but that was pretty typical of law firms from what I can tell.

    Advice to Management

    none really.
