I worked at Bsquare as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

Hard-working and intelligent group of professionals.

    Cons

I was only there for a temp assignment, just a few months. During that time, I found no 'cons'. Just a great working environment

I have been working at Bsquare full-time

    Pros

The company has a good and convenient location in Bellevue. It also offers free soda, free parking, There are some good people but this isn't a "high-bar" culture or work environment.

    Cons

This company has a very toxic culture. Everyone is always afraid of getting fired on a whim. The HR department is the worst I have ever seen--incompetent and gossipy, Stay away. There are so many better companies to work for. I had red flags from the beginning but did not heed them and lived to regret it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to weed out the toxic people.

    I worked at Bsquare full-time

    Pros

leadership changes; promise of new focus; benefits average for industry; opportunity to work from home

    Cons

struggling to find direction; very limited time for personal growth/training; benefits below expected (health insurance was not optimal coverage)

I worked at Bsquare full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Room for internal growth. Laid back and friendly atmosphere. Weekly fruit provided. Monthly morale activity. Management has an open door policy.

    Cons

Fairly stingy with tuition reimbursement. Training is rarely offered to increase existing employee skills and help existing employees advance their careers/knowledge. Hard to socialize much with coworkers because there is so much focus on utilization. People fear for their jobs if they aren't fully utilized.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take better care of your "little people" & loyal employees. Just because they don't speak up often, doesn't mean they are happy. Before you know it, they'll be turning in their resignations.

    Pros

Working with some very dedicated and loyal people with exceptional integrity for the work and their careers.

    Cons

HR department creates a very negative environment. Employees are treated like scolded children in a corner and given very little, if any, positive feedback. This company is run so that there is fear for your job security on a daily basis and concur with the "toxic" environment that sucks the life out of you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Come clean, be honest and value employees. Smoke and mirrors does not impress anyone.

I have been working at Bsquare full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

The stock hasn't been delisted, at least not yet. There are some better companies to work for and good places to eat within short walking distance.

    Cons

Management is unskilled and unprofessional . The core business, Microsoft's disastrous embedded initiative, is dying. What is supposed to be the grand strategy just is a jumble of buzzwords on powerpoint with no substance behind it. Who is that supposed to fool?

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

For a long time this company could have been acquired for peanuts but no one has bothered. That says it all.
