I have been working at Buffalo Public Schools as a contractor for more than 10 years

    Pros

I always felt very supported by Administration.

    Cons

Finding more ways to motivate parents to get involved with their children.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I like the way they work together as a team to support the staff members. Please continue to do so. It works well for the building.

I have been working at Buffalo Public Schools part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

You have the opportunity to work with some exceptional children. Fits in to my schedule while attending school.

    Cons

No Benefits No Compensation No Communication and when you call for information, staff act like deer caught in headlights. Many of the clerical staff have no interpersonal skills, some seem to be just waiting for retirement. Talent and development training needs to be giving to all staff especially substitute teachers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

All the Board does is bicker over everything. Need to really come out of that boardroom and step into the classroom. Work on your talents and developments. Credentials mean nothing without professional and interpersonal skills.

I have been working at Buffalo Public Schools full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

There are plenty of people who feel the same way I do. It is employment.

    Cons

Probably one of the worst school districts in the country as far as innovativeness, curriculum, talent and education.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't hire people with a criminal background - stop listening to the uneducated, lying, drug dependent parents. Make the workplace more equitable by treating everyone equally and distributing the workload more equitably.

I have been working at Buffalo Public Schools

    Pros

    The health benefits are unparalleled.
The pay is fairly high in comparison to other teaching jobs.

    Cons

The student body is incredibly challenging.
The administration from Superintendent to Principals put tremendous pressure to conform to ineffective and superfluous practices in order to please their superiors at the expense of effective teaching methods. Eg. Scripted Lesson Presentation
