    I have been working at Build-A-Bear part-time

    Pros

The employees fit together so well, its's like a huge family. They work around your schedule. I am a student and was able to get a good amount of hours around my schedule.

    Cons

If you're not too into talking to strangers, this isn't for you. You must be happy and cheery and peppy. Willing to sell everything, without pushing too much.

I worked at Build-A-Bear part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Build A Bear was a fun and interesting job. I enjoyed that they encouraged you to sell more and sign people up for memberships by rewarding you yet didn't really place excessive pressure on sales. Really enjoyed talking to the children and families who came in. You sometimes start to see a lot of regulars. Laid back atmosphere. Friendly customers. Flexible hours. I had no trouble requesting time off. Do well at your job and you will be rewarded for it.

    Cons

It can get EXTREMELY crowded on the weekends and this can get kind of stressful if you're on stuff machine. Co-workers kind of cliquey but it's nothing that will really distract from your job. Managers are immature. They are also TERRIBLE at handling a last minute emergency. If you ever call-in they have trouble replacing you and management may become rude to you and hold it against you. Had a great relationship with management until I called in sick once. After that I was constantly spoken down to and disrespected.

I have been working at Build-A-Bear

    Pros

I enjoy working with the children. The best part of this job is seeing a smile on their face. The 30% off comes in handy around the holidays. Listen to children's music all day!

    Cons

Co-workers are very odd. Hours are terrible. Make you work on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, New Years Eve. You are put on call. Managers can be rude. It's nothing like it looks coming in as a customer.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Hire better managers. PLEASANT ONES.

I have been working at Build-A-Bear part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

It's fun and the whole staff feels like a family. Managers are great and coach you in a positive way and there is no drama. We get to dress up sometimes and your encouraged to be creative and crazy.

    Cons

There aren't really any cons it's a great job, you will have off days here and there but it really is a lot of fun.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There needs to be more room for advancement and the check out process is a bit too long and it can sometimes feel like we are getting on the guests nerves with everything we have to offer and say at the registers.
