I worked at Bumble Bee full-time

    Pros

Lots of travel, opportunities to work on many projects. Direct supervision are usually very good, providing feedback.

    Cons

Internal politics, if not at VP level or above, have little decision making but lots of responsibility. Doesn't believe in long term growth of employees, very bottom line orientation. Lots of secret meetings.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to communicate with employees more often than annually on performance and opportunities within the company.

    I worked at Bumble Bee

    Pros

Lean Company, not much Bureaucracy. Everyone knows everyone.

    Cons

    -Top Heavy company
-Upper management does whatever they want--no HR here to speak of
-Don't really recognize talent. NO investment in lower level employees or even middle management

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Basically it's a great place to work for senior management. It's no secret the rest of the workforce would probably be happier elsewhere. Most San Diego-based employees are either stuck there due to ties to the city or lack of professional mobility. I would suggest putting a lot more into your middle management. You are a top heavy company with basically no middle management. You routinely let good people go.
