    Pros

Great state benefits- health, dental and retirement. But the buck stops there.

    Cons

Bad pay, bureaucratic environment where people get ahead without regard of professional skills. Leaders are not respectful of their subordinates, and in some cases, possess very little skill in the field they are purported to have expertise in. Subordinates have more skill than supervisor. The amount of in-fighting at Bunker Hill leads to a highly demoralized work place. Place is led by people who really don't have solid background. Workers are not happy here.

    Advice to Management

Hire people with strong skills and are qualified. Get rid of people without sound skills.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Bunker Hill Community College full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Pro’s: Some of the staff are kind, smart, and wonderful to be around. There is a small group of amazingly creative intelligent people working there—but they are quickly demoralized and discouraged from actually being innovative and productive.

    Cons

Con’s: Filled with incompetent, provincial minded pseudo-academics who thrive on demeaning and belittling wholesome employees and students. It is an extremely insincere, condescending and patronizing environment—spurious and deceptive at its best. I have never seen so many truly insecure people in positions of power. As one former student and excellent employee said to me: “BHCC does an amazing job at lying to the public and portraying an atmosphere of ‘kindness and learning’ when their practices could not be further from the truth.” The best people leave or are forced out, the incompetent and insecure stay in power. Don’t believe the positive propaganda you hear about this place. The reality is very much different—and it starts with ineffectual, insecure “leaders” at the top. They should be ashamed for their behavior, but when you are ALWAYS right, that is quite difficult to do.

    Advice to Management

Please do some self-reflecting and ask yourselves why you are so insecure that you feel the need to undermine resourceful and imaginative employees.

I worked at Bunker Hill Community College part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I worked in the tutoring center for over 2 years. Schedules are pretty flexible, amount of work is not too much, and co-workers and managers are always eager to help you in any way. Sometimes there will be question that, as a tutor, you are not able to answer. It is to say "I don't know" or "I don't remember" and manager actually endorse these type of answers when a tutor does not remember a particular topic.

    Cons

The amount of hours are limited to 25hr/wk during off-school season.

    Advice to Management

    Keep it up!

    Cons

-Pay could be better, but not bad overall

    Advice to Management

    -Perhaps increase the pay?
