Am been working for Bupa since 2004 but still. Am happy to continue work with them in the future.

Care Assistant (Current Employee) London, England (UK)

ProsIt is a safe place to work and everybody works as a team which is so difficult to find this atmosphere somewhere else. All mandatory training is provided which is the best for the workers.

ConsSo often it is challenging to work in such place as the residents some are mentally sick so with the training provided from Bupa there is nothing hard to deal with this type of challenging behaviour.

Advice to Senior ManagementPersonally i think there should a change in the rate per hour as really it is hard to work so hard all day and in returns we are not paid the proper amount of money i think there should be an assessment with the carers.

Awful, exceptionally poor Leadership in the digital transformation, (online) part of Bupa

Senior Project Manager (Former Employee) London, England (UK)

ProsThe Canteen, the gym, some people in BBS IT are a good bunch.

ConsHands down the poorest leadership in the digital transformation team, the programme manager tasked with migrating Bupa onto a new platform is easily the rudest, obnoxious and most irritating person I have ever worked with by overwhelming consensus of just about everyone at Bupa. Old school manager who constantly interrupts meetings, antagonizes, disrupts people who have much more experience than him. Moral is bottom of the barrel and for a company that promotes work place well being a massive contradiction. The director is simply to young and inexperienced though seems like a nice guy and needs to get rid of the dead wood programme manager. Even a clown could see the 2014 roadmap was completely unachievable, a good programme manager would never have produced something so ridiculous.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe Director for digital transformation is way to young and the Programme Manager does not know how to deliver. Putting a marketing director in charge of a large scale digital delivery is very 90s early days of the internet type strategy. Get an experienced specialist Digital Programme Manager who has delivered a large scale migration and understands what is required.

Marketing (Current Employee) London, England (UK)

ProsGood people, good team environment, career growth and development opportunities

ConsWork life balance and flexibility for working mothers, which although a benefit that Bupa promotes, is not available in all teams and is dependent on discretion of manager

Advice to Senior ManagementIf a benefit is available, it shouldnt come down to manager discretion, it really should be consistent across teams.

    Needs a rethink

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) London, England (UK)

    ProsNice atmosphere
    Expanding company
Not expected to work long hours

ConsBelow average salaries and poor progression opportunities.
    Group reporting poor.
Projects seemed to be done 'on the cheap' which usually worked out more costly in the end and massively eroded my confidence in the company.
Fitness/running shoved down your neck at every opportunity.

I've been here for 18 years and it's great!

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) London, England (UK)

ProsColleagues working together to achieve something extraordinary. Always a new challenge in a market that is complex, ever changing, socially critical and fascinating.

ConsFew people know how good it really is. We go under the radar because we are not a Plc and don't have shareholders, so you always have to explain.

Advice to Senior ManagementContinue to listen to employees - we've run global employee feedback processes since the early 1990's and participation continues to be incredibly high at 83%!
