    Pros

There was little pressure, which was good as we were able to finish all our team projects in absurdly short amount of time and spend the rest of the day playing video games.

    Cons

Work can be extremely boring if you are not particularly interested in the sector you are working on.

    Compensation was adequate.

    Pros

Co-Workers, relaxed culture, comfortable environment, decent benefits

    Cons

Lack of policies/SLAs. For those few that do exist, the policies are ignored to keep VIPs happy (and their egos inflated).

    Advice to Management

Stop trying to please high level individuals. Establish policies, and stick to them. Your responsibility isn't to gain favor with individual VIPs, but rather to benefit the entire company.

    Pros

Large corporation carries a good bit of clout throughout the industry. Impressive looking from the outside in. Potential for advancement if your part of the good ol' boy system.

    Cons

Being in the field you lose that sense of personal closeness to your superiors that at times is needed to get a sense of worth. Most good hard work goes unnoticed and unappreciated. Supervisors are not there for you (at least in the division I was in)

    Advice to Management

Find out what your field inspectors are really doing for the client. Get out of from behind the desk and visit the guy's in the trenches.

    Pros

Due to the recent high turnover rate there's more opportunity to advance beyond what you are qualified for. The lab has been without a supervisor for half a year and after the most recent internal candidate turned it down, management asked half the lab employees if they would take it, regardless of qualifications and experience. You might get a higher salary here but it's probably not worth the frustration. Unless management chooses you to be their scapegoat, most employees can fly under the radar and avoid putting in excessive hours.

    Cons

Extremely poor management. Managers consistently fail to communicate effectively with lab employees and often leave employees to manage projects on their own . This would be fine except that they are the ones communicating with clients and fail to maintain good communication with the clients as well, leading to constant chaos in the lab, switching between projects at a whim and wasting vast amounts of time, money and effort. All employees are extremely frustrated and management rarely if ever listens to them. Management is demeaning, disrespectful and sometimes outright offensive to employees. Poor ethics is a huge concern for many employees. Management often asks us to do things that we are not comfortable with or pressures us to take short cuts because they failed to manage projects properly. There are even instances of management asking employees to do things that are illegal. There was recently an HR intervention, the fallout of which lead management to become even more disrespectful and obstinate in their mismanagement. Favoritism is very obvious. Certain managers will go out of their way to please certain employees regardless of their ability or value to the company while being completely disrespectful to others. There is no opportunity for career growth unless you happened to be the manager's pet.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to go back to kindergarten. They missed the part where we learned to communicate in a way that isn't completely disrespectful and or ineffective. It's quite obvious that each of them has an agenda every time they make an effort to communicate with individuals and despite the guise of having a discussion they really aren't listening and are completely incapable of providing pertinent information for the tasks they ask you to do.

    Pros

Very good coworkers, hard working people, can be very prosperous when times are good

    Cons

Executive management makes their decisions from far away on different continents making you just a number on a screen. No appreciation for loyalty or hard work. Cold and heartless.
