Former Employee - Tax Senior in Palo Alto, CA

    Pros

Opportunity to work on a variety of projects. Flexible schedule. Exposure to clients early on in the career. Young partners who actively look for mentoring opportunities

    Cons

Some partners resist firm wide specialization initiatives which can be frustrating for staff, and seniors. The firm recently had a big lay-off and is reorienting itself. Procedures and practices are not uniform across the firm.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be a little more transparent regarding the firm's vision.

Current Employee - Assurance Senior in San Jose, CA

    Pros

Very flexable with work/life balance. Once you get to Associate II or Senior, your have more flexablity to make your own work schedule, as long as you get the hours in and work done. The people/staff are all great. I really like my coworkers. Many work socials. Good coaching by managers, and the opportunity to pick the type of clients I work on, or decline to work on a client.

    Cons

Long hours, evaluations of upper management doesn't appear to have much effect. Some internal trainings can be a waste of time and usually not useful. Aweful at the way they fire people, no notice to the Senior who is running the job that their staff was fired.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provide more perks, make me want to stay late and work. MORE communication by partners and managers about layoffs and how they will directly affect open job,

Former Employee - Tax Intern in San Jose, CA

    Pros

    Work life balance
Interns are expected not to know much so should be asking questions
    Detailed feedback per project

    Cons

No 'big picture' review on how the interns are doing.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Halfway through the internship, a 'big picture' review of how the intern is meeting or not meeting expectations would be helpful

People make it the best place in the Bay Area to work in Accounting by far. Plenty of Career opportunity.

Long hours make it hard to balance life and work. It is hard to manage time when you are overwhelmed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Former Employee - Tax in Palo Alto, CA

    Pros

    - Variety of work: diverse group of clientele
    - Pay =)
    - Location

    Cons

    - Great clientele; HOWEVER, due to big firm politics you get stuck doing one thing
    - "Encouraged" employees to vote them as "Best Place to Work."
    - Upper Management: Supervisors, Managers, Partners, AND Office Manager showed too much preferential treatment and they faked they cared. This is specifically in the PALO ALTO OFFICE
    - Wedsnesdays with Steves (as someone mentioned) SOOO DUMB! We dont care Steve!
    - The firm consist of many mergers and so alot of ppl did things differently. How ppl did things were very inconsistent! it should be ONE company = ONE way to do things in ALL the offices
    - Worked here a few YEARS, I CAN say I HATED working here!!!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

PALO ALTO office AND Steve take that "I'm too good for everyone out of your A**!!!"
