I worked at Burris Logistics full-time for more than a year

    Pros

A larger distribution company that maintains a family atmosphere. Some very talented senior leaders who have the right vision for the future. Overall it was a terrific company with some truly fantastic people in every level of management. Strong focus on company culture and customer satisfaction.

    Cons

-Fairly shallow talent pool on the supervisory level that stifled operational excellence.
-Like any company there were a few supervisors/managers that were merely keeping a seat warm.
-Advancement often based on "time served" and not merit.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to develop you core supervisory leaders and never stop focusing on the individual.

    I worked at Burris Logistics

    Pros

employment was what is was....a job.....very little pressure from corporate....did the best with what I had to work with....site mgr was ok of a person.......

    Cons

...rates were low-balled to entice customer into site......no support from corporate to re-enforce terms of enegagement as initially established, causing loss of margin as a result....

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make people bottom-line accountable....corporate isn't the large white building up on the hill....come down, look around....don't allow your VPs to blow smoke at you....
