    I have been working at C/D/H full-time

    Pros

Compensation is competitive. The company is committed to professional development and provides opportunities to advance.

    Cons

It can be stressful, as I think most worthwhile jobs are.

    Advice to Management

Stick with the new growth plan!

    I worked at C/D/H full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Compensation was above average. Co-workers/team was terrific.

    Cons

Work schedule and on call 24/7. No work/life balance - You're paid well but the time demands and commitment are substantial. No growth potential - very flat organization.

    Advice to Management

Management is prone to knee jerk reactions and does not think things through.

I have been working at C/D/H full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good benefits, profit sharing, employee owned, unlimited PTO, and relaxed dress code are the prominent positives. The company has recently gone through a culture change; while there was nothing wrong with the old culture, the new culture brings a relaxed dress code and gives more attention to the differing types of billable roles. There is a lot of enthusiasm for C/D/H 2.0 coming out of the gate for 2015, and its a very exciting time to be a part of the new version. There is a leadership team that seams serious about the direction of the company, and the partners of the firm are dedicated to its employees.

    Cons

There is some confusion and disorientation from this past year's acquirement of a couple of other businesses, but in the name of growth it is welcome, and the dust is settling.

    Advice to Management

Please don't let growth and business shadow the personal attention that has been prevalent with C/D/H's history. Keep listening to all of the staff as you have traditionally done; I like feeling like my opinions matter and that we are not just pawns as in my past employments.

    I worked at C/D/H full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The consultants are great, super friendly, personable. For the most part, highly competent. Probably the best reason to work there. Historically C/D/H has had a very flat management structure, which was neat in that everyone was only one level from the top (partners). Their core values are carefully crafted and commendable, but tend to be illusions. "Unquestionable Fairness" is only applicable if it aligns with the mood of the majority shareholder. Both offices are modern with full amenities and a stocked bar. The new downtown Detroit office is great with a pinball machine and Foosball table. Need a career lift? Hire in, C/D/H will be 'roids for your resume. Your next employer will appreciate your new qualifications.

    Cons

With the flat management structure, it left very little room for career growth. Only one person in the nearly 25 year history of the firm retired from C/D/H, and that was a partner. They have a serious problem with retention, preferring to hire only top candidates, but don't believe in consistent raises or rewards for growth. If you manage to secure a pay bump or one of the rare and meaningless promotional titles, expect guilt trips - common theme. Primary line of business (currently) is around Microsoft, but it isn't published, and as such, the Microsoft relationship wilts. The have to rely heavily on a sales staff that they put little faith in, compared to other Microsoft partners that are able to capitalize on leads. Goals for consultants are unattainable with weak pipelines, exception being 1 or 2 consultants who are idolized for their staff augmentation and set the standard for the other 90%.

    Advice to Management

Recognize the problems plaguing the firm, everyone discusses them but actions and momentum die out before results. Understand that the problems might roll down from the top of the hill.

    I worked at C/D/H full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The consultants are friendly and enjoy going to lunch together. Beyond that there are not many pros.

    Cons

There is no communication between senior management and the sales department. The owner only cares about the bottom line and you will quickly become just a number to him. They preach about their core values of "active collaboration" and "unquestionable fairness" and how this makes them different from others. These core values are so far from the truth. There is extreme favoritism towards the consultant staff. They make the sales department fell like the unwanted child. I predict that C/D/H will continue to be in business but there will be no growth. Contrary to what they claim, C/D/H is relatively unknown and has very limited market presence. During my time there, I saw significant employee turnover and no plan from management to correct it.

    Advice to Management

Restructure the organization and hire enough staff to grow. Personal growth and career advancement is not an option currently. Most importantly, actually care about the staff do not just use it as a clever hook line to attract people.

  7. Good family atmosphere with a ton of room for improvement.

    I worked at C/D/H full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The partners support and encourage consultants to improve technical skills.

    Cons

Lack of transparency in managerial and strategic decisions. Unattainable billable hour goals for 90% of the consultants. Execution and client retention.

    Advice to Management

Create a sustainable vision and go for it.

  8. Best place I've worked - bar none!

    Pros

C/D/H is more than just a company to work for - it is a tight knit family - a group of highly skilled professionals who care about each other - from the lowest to the highest. Unlimited PTO, focus on professional consulting, constant improvement, great training, participative mamagement of the firm, being constantly recognized by others and partners for accomplishments, partners who really care and value staff, excellence permeates this place!

    Cons

Somewhat flat organization - not a place for "ladder climbers," consulting is high pressure already and always striving for improvement can wear on you at times, symptoms of growing pains - evolving processes and changes to culture can sometimes leave people behind - unintentionally but still...

    Advice to Management

I have been here a long time - push forward and grow - but don't forget the "what, who or why" that got you there!

Too much reliance on partners to do day-to-day, operational work.
