I worked at C-DAC Kolkata full-time for more than 7 years

Pros – Being in the government sector it provides the secure working environment which is good for learning. Its integration with the industry oriented courses make it easy to find a good number of trainees.

Cons – A big issue is slow decision making and interference from the ministry. Not being able to properly deploy people is also an issue.

Advice to Senior Management – Balancing needs to be done to avoid Ministry's influence, and only then CDAC can get any project from industry in addition to only government sector as is the case now.

Pros – Good place for Research & Development, exploring new ideas.

Cons – Sometime becomes very monotonous, as there are less interactions.

Life is relaxed as deadlines are not so deadly!!!!!!!!!!

Cons – Lack of professionalism
Employee growth is solely based on time factors rather than performance
Staff Rules are obsolete
Lack of facilities for non-scale based employees like P.E.
Salary not at par with industry for P.E.

Advice to Senior Management – Plz. build a proper hierarchy in the organisation
Define staff rules clearly and moreover communicate same to the staff rather than hiding it.
Consider performance for promotion rather than time-spent.

 2 , go to stay for 2 years
 3 , Can balance family life too.

Cons – 1, on promotion policy
 2, no proper hierarchy of senior management
 3 No management team
 4 totally dependent of DIT ( Ministry of IT ) for projects

Pros – great work environment . freedom to choose in which area of technology you want to work. lots of opportunities to learn new technologies.

Cons – there is no particular downsides of working at c-dac except low incentives and it's a government organization so you progress depends on government norms.
