I worked at C Spire full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Off on Sundays, Good company, great benefits, company phone and discount on products

    Cons

Bad management, advancement is more about connections you have within the company rather than proven sales record, constantly changed commission structure.

    Advice to Management

Have a performanced based way of promoting employees and find a commission structure that makes both the company and the employees happy.

    I worked at C Spire full-time

    Pros

It's fun to have an opportunity to be creative and guide a team to success.

    Cons

Upper management is extremely away from reality and incompetent.

    Advice to Management

Don't overwork your front line and employees and quit speaking of integrity when you are the ones who really don't have it.

I worked at C Spire full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

1.You get a work phone with a low phone bill from Cspire 2.Attendance policy is Flexible. You may miss up to 3 days for one occurence. 3.The start off pay is great compared to most call centers 4.Paid holiday time off if you are scheduled off. 5.Overtime is offered. 6.Coaches are flexible with your schedule if you talk to them directly, and are flexible with surveys if you did everything possible on a call. 7.Floor support is helpful if you are on a tough call. 8.Training prepares you how to talk to customers with Souther Hospitality.. 9.They reward loyalty if you show interest and are a hard worker. 10.You get bonuses for performing well on surveys on your check as well as random raffle tickets.

    Cons

You may have to work mandatory overtime which is an extra hour added to your shift. Customers may be hard to handle if you have never worked in a call center environment. The routine can get old if you have been in call centers for a long period of time. You learn more of the technical aspects of the job as you go. Training will not cover every case you run into on a call.

    Advice to Management

Senior Management in corporate, I feel should take some of the calls for a week as a rep rather than making most policies off of listening to calls. Would give the company a more unified direction.

I have been working at C Spire (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Lots of opportunities, good pay. Benefits are very good. Great insurance and retirement. Also esop. Would highly recommend for someone looking for a job in the telecommunications field.

    Cons

At times things are moved too quickly when the staff has not had the change to prepare and it causes a lot of stress on the employees. It requires more hours to be worked and workload increases significantly.

I have been working at C Spire (More than 8 years)

    Pros

It's a job in Mississippi Vast majority of insurance premium is paid by the employer Employee Stock (ESOP) is ~10k/year (In 2014 was significantly less) Store and customer support staff can move up the corporate ladder They aren't going out of business. The wireless network within our foot print is excellent.

    Cons

Pay is well below average They expect long hours, but they do not offer comp time Changing companies will result in a substantial raise (30% more) and a better work life balance. ESOP is overrated. It does not appreciate much. ESOP is useless until you leave the company and since it doesn't appreciate as fast as the broader market you may be better off leaving and rolling it into an IRA You must work the last day of the year to get ESOP, 401k Matching and Retirement for that year If you leave after the end of the year, you cannot get ESOP payout for 18 months. The first year you get no ESOP and if you started late in the year, then you get nothing for 2 years. They schedule projects with deadlines that management and engineers know can't be met without effecting the product quality and negatively impacting customers. They will claim otherwise, which implies gross incompetence within upper management. Poor estimates and an unwillingness to let hold products back until they're ready leads to employees to work very long hours 80+ followed by months of support issues Training is negligible and when it occurs you end up working on your job instead of paying attention to the training (which leads to more issues later on). Management will throw you under the bus if someone higher up didn't like what you did, even though you did it at your managers request It's a mind numbing place to work. People are nice, but it's filled with people who are there for a paycheck looking forward to retirement (in 30 years) HR department Positive change is always a day away.

    Advice to Management

Stop being short sighted (*) When you say you're going to change something do it. And don't stop as soon as it affects someone with high visibility.

    Pros

ESOP ... Only good thing that comes from cspire

    Cons

ESOP.... It's good until they make you wait a year for it then drag around paying it. Upper management doesn't care about employees just customers while expecting hourly employees to do things they won't do.

    Advice to Management

If you cared more about your employees they would perform better for you

I have been working at C Spire full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good pay. Advantage to get an raise every month.

    Cons

Bad management. Company rules hurting the customers and employees. Letting ppl go in 3 months of bad surveys. Job security isn't sure at all.

    Advice to Management

Would like for everyone to be on one page. And know enough information about the company when asked. They look to floor support for answers when they should know as well.

    Pros

Strong financial resources, good systems in place (payroll, expense reporting, CRM). Invests heavily in the community, especially in home state of Mississippi. For the last 2+ years, C Spire has been expanding their product portfolio from just Wireless to VoIP, Cloud Services, and mobile applications.

    Cons

Processes are very rigid, and there isn't much room for creativity or initiative. Very strict, to the point where it seems that they don't trust anyone. Customer service on the wireless side is very good, but severely lacking on the VoIP side. Customers can wait days for response to critical service issues.

    Advice to Management

The Command and Control mentality of Senior Management was probably effective in the early days, but this attitude won't attract the new talent required to move the needle in emerging technologies.
